Please more of it!

I won't give any story spoilers, but I have a remark in the conclusion of my review that you should not read if you want to play the game as open minded as possible :-) The game has some similarities with classic Point and Click adventures, but includes a technique called "a mindmap" that helps you to draw conclusions about what you have learned in the course if your investigation. So to solve the case, you generally perform the steps (a) searching for clues, (b) talking to suspects, (c) draw conclusions about what you learned, (d) and use these as new topics. The mindmap is very forgiving: most clues can be connected logically, and if not, the system gives you hints after several tries (you can deactivate that in the options). Sometimes you can confront people by using what you learned to break their defense, but even if you misinterpret your dialogue choice (what can happen), you will be reset to the beginning of the confrontation. Thus, the game's difficulty can be considered to be quite easy...and to be honest, i liked this easy going approach because I enjoyed the story very much so I could concentrate on experiencing completely! The german localisation was very well done and the voice acting top notch! Great job! I played with a controller, and it worked perfectly. A bit annoying was the confirmation sound everytime i pressed the "continue" button, so i muted it in the audio SFX options. I wholeheartedly recommend the game and hope that there will be more cases to be solved in the future! Around 10 (very relaxing) hours well spent! REMARK: I mentioned the very forgiving approach, what i definitely liked...so what i don't understand is that if you misinterpret one dialogue line in the FINAL conversation, you will not see the "good" ending: no repeat, that's it! So it just feels all you did was in vein, and I honestly don't want to feel like this after a game. At least, the developers should include a chapter select option in a sequel.

Very casual game, but a good one

This is a very casual point-and-click, whose the well-written story is clearly the main interest. There is almost no challenge, since the game is quite easy, and the mechanics even give further assistance to the player. Overall, this is almost an interactive movie, but a solid one. The artwork is really nice and inspired, the voice acting is fine, and the original story is clever, subtle and not so easy to grasp. The character of Poirot is quite respected in this game, and we can recognize the idiosyncrasies from Suchet's Poirot (and Christie's Poirot of course). Overall, this is an enjoyable game, if we have the correct expectations when buying it.

For casual gamers - like reading a book

The prolog acts as a very nice introduction to both the story and the game mechanics. The gameplay is super easy and linear - click on all objects, talk to all people, mindmap and connect some dots and draw some conclusions - if you are looking for something more complex on the puzzle side, its not for you. You can't go wrong with conclusions. Also you will not get stuck Mind you - there is no save/load game mechanic, but the game lets you repeat some confrontations if you fail. Having said all of that, where the game shines is the story - the characters are believable and well written and the plot is interesting. I advise you however to take your time, immerse in the conversations and try to figure out things on your own, not just click things through to tick the game as completed.

This is an average game, and absolutely not worth the price. If it was in the range of 14-16 EUR then maybe. The whole (quite short for the money) game is actually only one big case, in the same house, with the same protagonists. It consist of finding clues in the same house, and interrogating the same people over and over again. And that's all ! So very boring, sadly. The mind place is displayed in very tiny letters that are almost illegible on my 24 inches screen. It could be enlarged but then you lose the whole picture. The graphics are less than average. Should have been much better with the technology that is available nowadays. Characters always dressed the same, although there is a substantial time gap of a few years between some chapters. For 30 EUR more effort should have been invested in creating it. I love Poirot and bought it in spite of many negative reviews, waited for a discount, but it was not worth even that amount of money. Sadly, it is true what majority of people say here about it. The story is good but of course Agatha Christie is to be credited for that. If you love good mystery games play Sherlock Holmes, especially the latest ones. This one has been a disappointment for me.

Fun Point and Click Agatha Christie Game

I love Hercule Poirot, he is so suave, and sweet and just such a gentleman. He is also not afraid to tell someone how it is either! So gameplay wise I really liked the characters, development as well as relationships. I liked how the clickable spots were decently obvious. I wish however that if something wasn't important, that the clickable spot would disappear after checking the first time, and not return later. The mind maps are so similar to that of Sherlock Holmes that it was very easy to understand. I did find some of the deductions rather hard to understand or figure out. Some of them are guesses at best. I like how the hint system can be turned on and off. I was able to solve most of the deductions without help, but never needed to look up a walkthrough when I needed it. Just turned hints on for that one connection, and then turn it off!
