Brawl not brains
Another in a long line of games with a good idea, interesting story - and bad execution, very bad one. Something that's becoming more and more common is to add atypical gameplay elements to "spice it up". In very few cases it's done well and makes a good game into a great one. But most often than not it's because the developers run out of ideas, time or money (or all of it). This game is a fine example. It's a typical, rather well made adventure game (not strictly point&click but very close) with reasonable puzzles (a bit on the easy side) and a few acceptable quick-time events. All is well so far. But then the developers realized the game is too easy, too short or both and they threw in some badly made street fighter-like scenes to mix it up. Not just one, but a load of it. A big load. Way too big. It not only distrupt the mood but destroys the story (which up to this point is quite unusual and interesting) and more or less ruins the whole game. The battles are long and the controls are so sluggish you're better of randomly pressing buttons to win instead of actual combat moves. I didn't even bother finishing the game because it's simply annoying. I truely wonder how this got past the playtesters… Sadly, it's not possible to give a negative game rating, this would score pretty good then. And I'm strongly considering reclaiming my money as this is pretty much junk.
