A little girl and her spaceship
In A Hat in Time you play as a tiny space-travelling girl with a big tophat. Her adventure is halted when all her fuel, the Time Pieces, is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. Hat Kid must now jump, fight and stitch new hats to make her way into every nook and cranny of this new world in order to restore her fuel and resume her journey. On her way, she'll bump into the menacing Mafia of Cooks, the goofy birds of Dead Bird Studio, the spooky shadows of Subcon Forest, and more!
Murder on a train! Parades! Trespassing in a movie studio?
Every mission in A Hat in Time is unique! At one moment you'll be solving the Murder on the Owl Express by finding clues and interrogating the locals, the next moment you'll be the band marshal in The Big Parade, or sneaking through the bird-run Dead Bird Studio!
Small child, giant worlds
Jump freely around in 5 massive worlds with new adventures to discover around every corner! Just like any child, Hat Kid loves to climb and explore, no mountain is too big for her sense of adventure. She can do multiple jump moves, as well as climb walls, and swing over gaps!
Cute hats, magical yarn and snappy badges
By finding and collecting rare magical yarn, Hat Kid can stitch new cute hats with a variety of abilities, including a witch hat that allows her to cook explosive concoctions, and a wooden ghost mask that allows her to peek into other dimensions. Hats can become even more powerful, by attaching badges that are found, sold and traded by the locals!
Community-funded, community-focused
A Hat in Time was successfully funded on Kickstarter, reaching nearly 10 times its goal!

A cute, solid 3D platform game well worth its price. A Hat in Time has a lot of charm and its gameplay is highly satisfying. If you're looking for a collect-a-thon-style game to sink your teeth into, you should definitely get this one.
EDIT: Completed the game with 67%, working towards a higher % now, though I don't know if I'll reach 100 or not.
Yes. This is a very enjoyable platformer, while it does start out a little 'too easy' it does ramp up.
My best description for this game is "Someone really wanted to make 'Super Mario 64 - 2', back lacking the licence stuck it in the most colorful of childrens cartoon worlds."
The controls are solid, the hats are fun, there's quite a lot of collectables and badge-power-ups you can buy. I havn't 100%'ed the game yet, no, but I have reached the final world (which currently only shows a boss fight, and required I have certain hats to access), in about 8 hours while I was doing a lot of side content. There's also only one hat I don't currently own, that I'm lovingly calling "ZA WARUDO!" until I can get it. ;P
If you like 3D platforming games like Super Mario 64 or Banjo-Kazooie, you will enjoy this game. I'm honestly surprised at how much fun I'm having with it. The soundtracks are great, the bosses can be quite tough at times, but the game is playable, possible, and above all FUN.

+I can unironically say "This is a better Super Mario 64 Sequel than Super Mario Sunshine" even though it's an unrelated indie game (fan game I'd say, there's too many connections to SM64... mansion is a space ship, coins are gems, stars are hourglasses, paintings are telescopes, etc etc...)
+/- Platformer
+/- Lack of combat outside of bosses
+/- Bosses can be far more challenging than their leading up levels
+/- LOADS of collectables that *do* effect gameplay
-Rather short (~8 hours)
-Only 5 worlds (6 if you count 'The Moon' bonus levels)
-"Effects" aren't as optimized as the other options (but my processor is outdates, just be sure to check your sysreqs)
-Shopkeeper is inconsistant
-(?) No map badges for finding yarn, coins, or any collectables other than "Artifacts"
-has a "weapon" tab in the menu, but only has one weapon that cannot be changed or accessed
-sometimes wall running activates when you don't want it to
-due to the games color scheme and soft shadows, landing on wires can be a pain with no clear indicator of where you're falling, I'm good at games and I usually over/under shoot them
-my BIGGEST complaint: The Camera can be VERY finicky at times
Foot note: I'd rate this the old "K-A 7+", some bosses are too hard, some levels quite terrifying (Luigi's Mansion meets Amnesia Dark Descent), and there's one level (on a movie set) with quite a bit of 'blood' on display, for kids 6 and under. But in a world where game ratings are rarely accurate, I felt I should put my two cents in on this one. If it were a movie, it would be "Toy Story 3" brand of "PG".
