A review of A game about digging a hole

An excellent title for those who enjoyed Motherload or games with steady progression systems like idle or clicker games. I just sat down and beat the game in about 2.5 hours while hooked in for one sitting. There isn't a wealth of content in the game, but what is here will be enthralling for those who like its style of gameplay and premise. The trailer is quite accurate in showcasing what you'll be doing and what the gameplay feels like; you start digging a hole, and gradually progress and improve how you dig your hole. There is a story and twist that are quite fun to experience but they're not really substantive enough to be the driving force for you the player even if they are for your character. It'll be the central loop of digging, exploring, and running back that will be carrying people through and that loop is pretty fun to do. The only complaints I can really level would be the challenge of landing the dynamite being more frustrating than fun and that there isn't an infinite/extended mode to play longer but neither of those are simple fixes that could be done, and don't seriously detract from my enjoyment of the game.

Short Sweet and Fun

Games fun its short sweet and really calming. That's all the game needs to be. The one regret I have is that there isn't any achievements but It's GOG so I guess that makes sense unfortunately.

It's fun.

Wish there was a bit more to it but it's a short fun diversion to all the other games that feel like they just take too much investment. Some of these AAA have a couple dozen hours for them just finishing let along 100%. This game is just a nice breath of fresh air.

Slow Start and Few Glitched

The game is started very slow, and you will die many times, but it's lucky taht you can sell all ores before the battery die and keep the money, so literally you don't need to charge the battery to save money in early stage. Easy but repetitive. There are very rarely ores in the surface so it's very hard to build sell-upgrade cycle, maybe that's a offline pc game for, without mobile iap. The most critical problem is, the game has no remap and cannot disable the keyhints, cannot change resolution, the camera is to low to the ground. The game performance is good, easily 4k/120fps, not too much load on gpu. just for digital dig that we can't really dig some basement randomly in real life, The glitch is, when out of focus the game window, the game will refuse to save energy and playing weirdo on 10 fps limit, when back of focus, the game does not or very slowly ramp up the frame rate, and cause the mou se ON the FLY under low fps, and you need to adjust the pointer sensitive option MANY times up and down to re-ramp up the fps from 10 to 120.
