X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse

X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse (2005)

by Beenox, Raven Software, SuperVillain Studios, Activision
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Hack and slash/Beat 'em up
Themes:Action, Fantasy, Historical, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Split screen
Story:X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse is an action role-playing game and a sequel to X-Men Legends. The player controls a party of four characters, though only one at a time can be controlled directly. Besides switching the characters for combat purposes, the player is often obliged to do so, because some of the tasks in the game require the specific abilities of a certain mutant. For example, Iceman can put out the fire, Magneto can generate a metal bridge across a gap, etc. Most of the time, however, is spent in combat, collecting loot and acquiring experience points. Unlike the first game, items dropped by enemies are random. The character will level up, become stronger, and learn new skills. The player can opt to allocate all the experience and skill points manually.Show more

It was one of my favorite games growing up. I didn't even know much English, but I grew up watching the X-Men cartoons—both the classic '90s series and Wolverine and the X-Men. I loved how it mixed hack-and-slash gameplay with RPG mechanics. It was also the first game I had on the Xbox, which my mother and aunt bought for me. I remember playing co-op with my neighbor friend. I heard there's modding now, and I would love to buy and play this game on GOG.
I would trade all of my other votes to upvote this so much higher on the list. Ive hunted down old hardware and discs to play this over and over again. As a 90s kid the X-Men have always been my favorite corner of the Marvel Universe and this game got so much right. The game can be a bit janky at times for sure but everything else makes up for it. There are so many sweet mods too. I cant tell you how much i want to praise this game and demand another one. I could bore you and easily take up all 2000 characters, upvote this game or i just might!
Licensing hell makes this one almost impossible to bring back but so much great memories with this title. It's one of the greats and had everything a Marvel fan could have asked for in a X-Men game. Great story, great villains, a tremendous roster of playable characters, light RPG mechanics, great voice acting, bunch of extras, tons of costumes for the heroes. It's a shame how lost this game is. Introduced me to Deadpool as he was one of the playable characters and pretty much the sole reason I got into comic books. All around wonderful stuff.

This was the game when I first heard about Deadpool. I went through everyone to partner up with Wolverine. Mainly because I like going tanks. When I unlocked Deadpool I tried him and when he did his rally cry: "QUICK! Everybody, shield me with your bodies!" I laughed so hard because it was so unexpected. I wish they'd make another game like this. Even a remake would be good enough for me.
This was the most fun X-men game I've played on the PC. It came out around the time I was re-reading the Age of Apocalypse comics which covers similar story points. I bought a copy of it a couple of years ago as people said it worked on Windows 10 but I never got it to work. I miss running around as various x-men in isometric view beating up proper villains and bad guys.
Pretty much, i'd love to this GOG had a legit version. Modding community is there, and they did made alot of cut content restored, even though PC version of X men legends 2 is probably the worst one (NOT PERFORMANCE RELATED) but in a content wise, i'd love to see this game on GOG because this game is genuinely good, even though the content are far fetched than PSP version.

It's literally one of; if not the best X-Men game out there. Although it's not perfect by any means, what it does give like the story, characters and skill building just make it a hell of a good time to enjoy. There is a lot to unlock/discover and the New Game+ of being able to carry over your stats to a new playthrough means you'll definitely be playing this multiple times! I do like to play this from time to time on PS2/PSP but would love to see it get some modern updates on PC.
I used to play the HELL out of this at my grandfather's house on his gaming pc, peak childhood memories. The trypohpobia level can go burn in hell, hope they make a patch to get rid of that part, but I still really enjoyed this game and is an early exposure to many Marvel characters.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Fable: The Lost Chapters
Fable: The Lost ChaptersFable was expanded and rereleased as Fable: The Lost Chapters for Xbox and Windows PC platforms in September 2005. The game was later ported to Mac OS X by Robosoft Technologies and published by Feral Interactive on 31 March 2008. The Lost Chapters features all the content found in the original Fable, as well as additional new content such as new monsters, weapons, alignment based spells, items, armour, towns, buildings, and expressions, as well as the ability to give children objects. The story receives further augmentation in the form of nine new areas and sixteen additional quests. Characters such as Briar Rose and Scythe, who played only minor roles in the original game, are now given more importance and are included in certain main and side quests. Other character-based augmentations include the voice of the antagonist, Jack of Blades, sounding deeper, harsher and more demonic, and the ability to uncover (and resolve) the murder mystery of Lady Grey's sister. The updated edition of the game also applied fixes for certain glitches, such as the "dig glitch," in which the protagonist would move backward each time he used the shovel, pushing him through solid objects and sometimes trapping him.
