Story:Set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of the 1930s, Valkyria Chronicles depicts Europe divided in two and ruled by two super powers: the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, situated in the middle of the two superpowers territories, in an attempt to secure invaluable natural resources. Within this struggle a hero named Welkin, and his fellow soldiers of the Federation's 7th Platoon, are fighting back against the invasion and the Empires attempts to unify the continent under its power.
During the ensuing war the Federation discovers that the Empire possesses a secret weapon, known as the "Valkyria" - an ancient race with special powers thought to exist only in legends. With this new discovery the fate of the Federation's ability to turn the tide of the war, and the hope for a better future, hang in the balance.

The first of a series of Valkyria Chronicles games published by Sega. A fantasy strategy combat simulation for the Playstation 3. Control a squad lead by a single tank supported by mixed WWII style infantry in a campaign to resist an invasion. Start out with only a few members but slowly swell your ranks, levelling them up and learning new skills and classes and gain resources and upgrades for your tank. Beautifully animated 3D models and a fairly amount of anime-style war drama, which include the super-powered Valkyria, basically walking laser cannons. The enemy starts with one of these, complicating your efforts, but you eventually find one on your side as well. Fairly fun. Most of the action is in your rank and file infantry members though. They learn new skills and traits, both positive and negative and come in various classes with strengths and weaknesses like the fast moving and highly accurate but low endurance scout to the tanky and deadly machine gun toting shocktrooper to the medic who heals and recovers the fallen and the lancer, basically a bazooka toting anti-tank unit. Permadeath is a thing. Managing team mixes and promoting them to better versions of themselves is the key to victory. Along with managing choke points, dealing with pillboxes, capturing enemy spawn points and conquering the map, or surviving a tactical retreat. Your one tank is mainly emergency support and mobile cover, with limited ammo, and the Valkyria are usually something like a saved super power to be used sparingly for plot purposes. Fairly fun. The sequels add more and more features, classes and drama to the mix. 2 and 3 were on the Playstation Portable while the 4th most recent entry was on the Playstation 4. I believe this particular game won some kind of Guinness World Record at one point, but 3 was my particular favorite. Lots of drama, politics involving historical and racial prejudices, etc. Beautiful character designs that still pop up in character shops today.
The game has a heart gripping story of friendship, comradeship and even love in the mids of a brutal war. Even if it is packed with some cliches it is still a wonderful story which does not shy away from showing the ugly sides of war and it's impact of Soldiers and Civillians alike.
The Gamemechanics of the Soldiers, their individual potentials made you fell compassion to the characters and gave them meaning, they were more than cannonfodder, they became comrades.
The Class System also makes every Class (Scour, Shocktrooper, Lancer, Engineer and Sniper) feel unique since eyery class has it's positives and drawbacks which adds depth to the gameworld itself
The game deserves to be on GOG, to be preserverd, for the simple reason thaat it is worth it.

The game's battle system is called "Concerto", and is a strategic real time battle system similar to the ones found in Sakura Wars and Valkyria Chronicles. The player make use of swords, bows and magic in a battle system that places importance on character cooperation—hence the name "Concerto".
The player forms a party of up to five for battle. The game will have damage based on character position, and items collected upon defeating enemies.
The songstresses are special members of the player's battle party. By performing their magic song, they can achieve various effects on battle—blocking enemies from moving, increasing characters' move count, making hasten the party's pace. Some songs can even be used for attack. Using the songs requires Mana Energy.
The game also has inter-character relationships. Depending on the player's selections during event scenes, movements and usage of group skills during battle, the characters' relationships will change.Fantasy

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's RevengeThe game begins with a presidential briefing in the White House concerning Yuri and how he has begun his take over of the world through mind control. Yuri interrupts the briefing to explain how he plans to take over the world, telling the American President Michael Dugan that he has a network of Psychic Dominators around the world, which he is now beginning to reveal. One of Yuri's Psychic Dominators is on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco, which Yuri activates just before ending his transmission to the White House. The President immediately calls in an airstrike on the device, but all the attacking aircraft were shot down, although one crashes into the nuclear reactor on the island, causing the device to lose power and to not function. A player can play as Godzilla or similar monsters (kaiju), like Anguirus, and Fire Rodan. Should players want to support humanity they can play as the G-Force, a human defense force. Humans have monster killing tools such as, tanks, artillery and planes. Some monsters are unplayable enemies and both sides will have the chance to fight against them.
On the map, the game is a typical war strategy. The player can move units on the map, and attack enemies. Battles have their own screen and animations. The fighting is quite arcade-like and simple, functioning similarly to fighting games. When all units have used their actions points a turn ends.
Godzilla: Kaijuu no Daishingeki has four maps, and an extra secret level.
