I got my first PS2 on Christmas back in 2001. This was the first PS2 game I rented from Blockbuster along with PaRappa the Rapper 2. I don't remember the game too well, but I do remember you could play as Rick or Imhotep, which was pretty novel at the time. The Imhotep levels were better from my recollection because you could devour people's souls and resurrect mummies.
