I played this game many times on steam, both solo and with my friend. Another perfect game to explore Middle Earth with story quite fun. Gameplay was pretty cool with those nasty finishers that we could perform on orcs, goblins, men and other beings. I wish it returned so I could nag my best friend to try at play this gem with me.
A very good RPG/action-adventure, which I played many times. It's another fantastic game to explore Middle-Earth with -- the designers know their Tolkien lore, and take you through familiar territory (such as Bree and Elrond's house, which you may have seen in the movies), as well as dangerous places unseen in the movies, like the ruins of Fornost, the Barrow-Downs and the Ettenmoors, among others. You can play one of three heroes (human, dwarf or elf), and the computer will play the other two. Each hero has his/her own strengths and weaknesses, and the battles are fun, high-energy and very intense. (The battles in Mirkwood and Gundabad are especially challenging, and the boss battle in Mirkwood is very scary - but in a fun way!) Highly recommended.

First game i thought of when thinking of what game I would like to preserve- I have this on a Xbox 360 but that will hardly last forever. Super solid Beat em'up with rpg elements, many games were made in this genre since but I can't think of any that I liked as much as this. Played it co-op locally with my brother, but I would love to convince my friends to play it online with me, if given the chance. This is the type of game that is not particularly a masterpiece, but it will stick in your mind over how underrated and surprisingly good it is, and I would hate to see it forgotten to time.

Playing this game is a joy for me. I lose myself while playing the game. Only those who have experienced it know this pleasure, it is indescribable. Playing a game of a movie you watch with pleasure and feeling like a member of that world is an undeniable pleasure.

I have this game on steam, and was having a blast playing it until I reached a section that would error and shut down my entire game. If there was a working version of this game out of the box I know that I'd be able to suggest it to friends who missed out on this back in the day but would love the expanded LOTR world elements. A perfect example of preservation-worthiness.
This is the only and criminally underrated action-RPG set in Middle-Earth that matters. I played this for days with a friend, it has replayability with each character having their own builds and ways to find secrets in the world, gameplay was smooth, the environments and armor designs are just gorgeous, you get to explore areas the films never touched (like the Barrow-Downs and Carn Dûm), the graphics were high-end at the time and its story is fun and engaging. I happily lost hours going into this game and explore the unexplored North of Middle-Earth and it pushed me to go and actually read the books, such as the Silmarillion. As a Tolkienite, this game does what the professor always said about his work: to add in the world without removing themes and lore that's established.
Played this game for countless hours with my dad and cousin. Without a doubt one of the most underrated LOTR games ever made. A solid RPG with simple combat but scratched that itch and was ahead of its time before the genre seemed so copy/paste. I would love to see this game get some highly deserved love and maybe grab a few new fans. This game is by no means the best but is a hidden gem and if other less attractive game titles get nostalgic attention this one deserves it too.
The only way to play this game currently is physically on PS3 or Xbox 360! This was an amazing Co-op game! I played on PS3 and was actually the game that got my wife into games. We played the entire game together in split screen co-op!
This was one of the fun and better Lord of the Rings experiences I played on next gen (ps3) for me. Absolutely loved the story, loved the old school dynamic of getting to play with a mage, soldier and dwarf and you get to visit settings you didn't get to in previous lotr titles. A lot of critics didn't GET it, simply because their reviews can make or break a game but it was a great experience. Combat was bloody too, one of my fav missions was getting to defend the dwarven stronghold and the villain was campy but dark and a lot of fun to fight.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
