Story:You are Chauncey, a serving lad who saves his monarch from choking on his meal. The King rewards you with his magical sword, Grimthwacker, and a village, and the mission to go forth and prosper by felling waves of Hordlings, who are bent on eating everything in the province. The better you get at defending villagers, crops, and cows from Hordlings, the better equipped you become. Success wins you further favor from the King, along with bigger challenges and more enmity from the evil High Chancellor. There are several types of Hordlings, each with their peculiar style of picking through the edibles under your care. Success is measured by how many villagers and crops survive each season's gluttonous attacks.Show more

Played this back in 1995 on the Panasonic 3DO. Silly FMVs with Kirk Cameron and slightly wonky controls may not make it a top pick, but it has some interesting elements like defending your town and making money to reinforce your defenses against the monsters of the Horde. The knight that says „None shall pass!“ remained in my memory forever…
3D0 brought its share of miracles, with "road rash", "dragon's lair", and so many others, "the horde" was one of them! Getting ready to defend crops and homes before suffering incessant monster invasions. Not to mention the Machiavellian tax collector that we all feared! What memories.

Conquest Earth: First EncounterThis RTS (real-time strategy) game tells the story of a futuristic war between the humans and the inhabitants of Jupiter (Jovians). The player can choose to command the armies of either side. Humans and Jovians have different menu layouts and tactics which they can employ for offensive and defensive actions. Also, the Jovians must deal with the atmosphere of the Earth, which obstructs their view, by using special troops; the humans also face a problem in the sulphur shrouds of Jupiter.
The game implements its own view system for battles. Some may know it from their TV's - there's a picture-in-picture option to view 3 different locations at the same time. While on a planet, range of opportunities is wide, from being employed practically at any building (should there be a vacancy) to owning any non-government building, influencing economy directly. Entire planet economy is based on real buildings present in the game and therefore player can shape it to his liking (if player is rich enough). Player can also choose to be anyone - from local business owner, to criminal or politician (or as it might often be - all at once). Skill development is only possible if player performs tasks which require those skills.
Player can travel from planet to planet and own or rent any spaceship, mining, pirating or simply trading goods between planets. While game has no quests & restrictions, there is a main story present which implies that player need to achieve certain results and actions to meet win condition, which does not stop player from continuing game thereafter.
