Love the setting, love the characters, the voiceover is second to none. Weapons and upgrades well balanced, graphics still look good seven years after release. It only demands as much as you want to put in; no 100hr+ in-depth stories here, just zombies and weaponry! The sense of humour is what really makes it. Very tongue in cheek. This needs to be on GOG because I believe it to be a lost gem. A game that by rights should have been 10x more successful on release and absolutely demanded a sequel it'll never get.
*Strange Brigade* deserves preservation for its unique blend of cooperative gameplay, rich 1930s pulp adventure style, and humorous narration. It celebrates teamwork, diverse characters, and creative puzzle-solving, all wrapped in a visually distinct world. As a cultural artifact, it reflects modern game design inspired by vintage storytelling, offering future generations insight into how gaming merges entertainment with historical homage and collaborative fun.
Friends and I have spent countless hours playing this game. Once, a foursome of us, across the United States and Europe, played the Horde Mode past Round 5 (that's 21 waves per round so 105 waves). We'd heard that was how to beat the Horde Mode, but when it didn't end we called it a night. The next day, I emailed the game company and learned that Horde Mode goes on forever! Regardless, we had a great time and we still come back and play the game from time to time. Every aspect of the game is enjoyable, and playable over and over again. The 'campy' nature of it and 'pulp' action is welcoming and addictive. The background graphics are very detailed. The voice actors are phenomenal. The narrator still cracks me up with laughter. I would like to see it preserved because it's very unique. I have yet to find its equal.
