The only one of its kind. I had to have it when two trailers started after installing Star Trek Starfleet Command 1. Klingon Academy (GOG, we absolutely need this in our program) and New Worlds. Back then the advertising was called Star Trek meets Star Craft. Unfortunately the controls were extremely imprecise. The camera didn't work very well. The overview was difficult and the AI... yeah. The game needed more love and development. The difficulty level was high. The cinematic sequences were state of the art. The soundtrack was cinematic. The game fit perfectly with the Kirk crew's films. The setting and the design of all the models was terrific. Similar to Starfleet Command, they dared to try something new in the Lost era. I've often thought to myself, with all the modders on the planet, why isn't there anyone who takes a well-known, moddable strategy game and ports New Worlds into it? Company of Heroes with a NewWorlds mod. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Because New Worlds doesn't have any two-legged ground troops. Only tanks and shuttles that transport crews into buildings. The game has potential, and I'd love to be able to play it again. I still have my CD, but nothing happens under Windows.
Despite everything, I had a lot of fun with the game. Destroying the base with a Bird of Prey. I still remember Interplay creating a website specifically for it. There, you could listen to logbooks; they were on the same level as the in-game dialogue. A little character picture and text to go with it. That was a backstory. Very exciting.
