Story:Sonic R is a 1998 LCD game created by Tiger. The game features a directional pad which only has Left and Right and 2 buttons, "jump", and "run". There are also buttons for toggling the power and sound on/off and to display the score. Two AA batteries are required to play the game. This game is based off another game of the same name on Sega Saturn. The background of the game bears a resemblance to Resort Island, a level from the Saturn game.Show more
This game (and the soundtrack) was a staple of my childhood, but getting it to run on PC these days is a nightmare. If there was an easier way to play this again, I'd buy it again five times over.
This game is not even good, but it's just so fun. Finding the secret bits of each level. And the soundtrack is amazing. One hundred and sixty characters aaarrgh!
I will say right off the bat this Sonic game isn't for everyone. It's kinda a weird Mario Kart clone racing game. Some characters doesn't use vehicles. There's a few hidden characters that's alternative versions of other characters. There's a handful of tracks that do differ to a degree. The soundtrack is hit or miss with people. Personally I'm fine with some of the songs. The controls will take a while to get use. Especially making turns which will take you the longest to master. Sonic R is among the shortest Sonic games I ever played!!!
