The fanmade enhanced edition is great and currently the best way of playing the game but it would be awesome to finally see an official rerelease of this game that is actually good unlike the only current way of officially playing it on modern hardware, the HD collection (playable on modern Xboxes thanks to backwards compatibility). It would also be great to see the many issues with the PC port be fixed up. I can appreciate the remake for introducing new players to the game's amazing story but it's effectively a different game in everything but name and basic plot, so it would be great for those same new players to be able to play the same game everyone else fell in love with back in the day. It should be the Poem of the Last Moment/Restless Dreams/Inner Fears/Director's Cut/Greatest Hits version (the version I'm referring to has a lot of different names depending on region and platform, but no matter the name the version itself is the same) in particular because it has the most content.
Last year (2024), my amazing girlfriend recommended I play through the OG Silent Hill games. I absolutely fell in love with the first. When I got to Silent Hill 2, my mind was blown. The overall atmosphere, presentation, sound design, creature design, music, pacing, the feeling of dread and eeriness thoughout the different places you explore stuck with me. I can see why Silent Hill 2 was the first to get a remaster in the series. Even though the Remaster is here for SH2, I think it would be amazing for everyone to play the OG version of the game. This series will always have a place in my gamer heart for the rest of my life. I hope to see all of the games on PC, both OG versions if possible, and remasters of them.
This is a game that I didn't play myself, I watched my uncle play it and it still made me scared to watch him play. During my time watching my uncle play the game he would teach me things about video games and how to play. It is always a good memory when I hear about the game. It's puzzles were challenging for my uncle and helping him out gave me a sense of accomplishment. I think this is one of those games it would be nice for people to go back to and enjoy.

One of my best "young adult" gaming experiece ever. I'm played more then hundred times and never tired playing of this classic. When masterpiece released first time in pc, this is my best time of my "gamer" age....

Played it way way back without expectation just wanted to play something scary, played one if not the best single player, horror story gamed I have played, back then I kinda get the story and was impressed but after replaying after many years it struck a bit more, playing this game in different period of my life was absolutely the best, perspective in life changes so as the game. Absolutely love this game

Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed.
The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo.
As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity.
Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control.
