This game is neither an RPG, nor the best Game, Legend Entertainment ever did. If you want to see that, rather look into Superhero League of Hoboken, which got re-released on GOG already. Thanks for that! But still, Shannara has a very soft spot in my heart and I would very much love to play it once again. I know, I know, there is a Browser Emulator around, that even let's you save, as long as you don't clear the Cache, but it feels clunky and lacks the voice acting, so it's just half the fun and experience.
As I said: This Game is not about its painfully basic and annyoing RPG-Part, it's all about the beautiful SVGA-Graphics and your companions. Especially Shella, Princess of Leah and Daughter to Menion, former Childhood friend and then...Well, you will see, when GOG has a pitty and rereleases this odd little gem, despite the current little vote count. While the game keeps everything very linear and while the plot itself is not something special (Brooks is considered the mediocre amongst the Three Terrys and has a reputation for having lazily hopped on the Tolkien Train, when putting down Shannara), Legend pulls of something that feels deeply home and rewarding to me. I am pretty sure, Nostalgia is taking it's toll there, and yeah, the list of games I've completed, is not a very long one, but Shannara is in that list and I still fondly remember the Spring of 1997, when I played this game, being the odd 20 years old myself and leaving childhood behind, as Jak does. Looking for a girl. As Jak does not have to, but still finds. But yeah, mostly leaving childhood behind and finding a place in the world, minus Demon Lords. Unlike today's world.
So, while not all who wander, might be lost, I still feel so and would find some sweet redemption in a full talkie version of Shannara, wandering this less and less appealing world. For god knows why and the reasons above. I'd pay full price, no second thought there, like I did with MM3, when I learned about GOG back then.
