It's a unique piece of history of both the franchise and time, whilst not the best game in the series, the premise was solid and if Slant Six was able to refine it and add more content it would have been great despite being a genre shakeup. It is defined by Capcom as a commercial success with how much it sold despite critique. Also there is still definitely a market for the game with it's niche fandom and people who want to experience a piece of the vision Slant Six had.
The fact that all existing keys for it have been bought and are being scalped for ridiculous prices in the hundreds should alone be a proof of concept for demand in bringing it back.
