As a kid this game fueled my interest in programming, I might not have landed a career in software without late nights staying up designing cybertanks, coding better AI for them, and testing them out in battle against progressively more challenging opponents. The drive to beat the next, smarter enemy and earn money to upgrade weapons and systems on my cybertank kept me going back to the code. Coming up with clever ways to make my tank better at navigating difficult terrain and trying out new little tactical maneuvers to see what would give me the edge needed to win. That was all the reinforcement needed to keep me practicing and learning. It never felt like an "educational" game, I was in it for the challenge and fun.
