Story:Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is an enhanced HD remake of Odin Sphere game for PlayStation 2. Many various adjustments and changes were made in gameplay, considering comments from people who played the original game. While this is enhanced version of the original and it's trying to stay true to it, there are new gameplay and story elements presented in this release, some of which include new boss fights, new attack moves, new background music, and new map area to explore. While the initial idea of the developers was to make just n HD remastered release, it ended up being more of a re-created game version. Given that there's no pc equivalent of this game aside from emulation, this game being on GOG would be the perfect place, let alone all of the other Vanillaware games.
I went through a very difficult and painful time during my teenage years. In the midst of all the turmoil caused by family problems, video games became a refuge—a source of comfort and stability. And Odin Sphere was a constant presence during that period.
Its vibrant colors, unforgettable soundtrack, and charismatic characters captivated me then, and they still move me to this day. It was my first experience with Vanillaware, and that spark of admiration has never faded. There’s a soul in Odin Sphere—something rare, something you don’t easily find in games, regardless of genre or platform.
I truly wish more people could feel what Odin Sphere evokes. To laugh at its moments of comic relief, to be shaken by its plot twists, to feel that ache in your chest when hidden truths come to light, and to fall in love—again and again—with its rich, fantastical world and everything within it.
But as the industry marches forward, evolving rapidly in both technology and trends, I fear that this beautiful game may one day be forgotten—erased from memory. And that would be a tragic loss. Preserving Odin Sphere means preserving a piece of art, a piece of someone’s life, and a story that still has the power to touch hearts and inspire souls.
un jeux que j'ai découvert malheureusement sur le tard mais totalement incroyable. avec un univers riche se découpant entre plusieurs personnage avec des histoire aussi différente qu'attachante, les graphisme sont magnifique même encore aujourd'hui ( et c'est peu dire). Un jeu qui certes ne vous feras pas tremblé mais un expérience qui vous transporteras à coup sur.
This is truly an underrated game. I first played the PS2 version years ago, and although it was painfully hard, I enjoyed the characters and the story. Leifthrasir is a very well-done HD remake, and yes, it is a remake because it changes several core functions of the game itself. The biggest QoL change Leifthrasir did was giving everyone improved mobility options. The game is much faster than the PS2 original. And if, for whatever reason, you want to play the OG, it's included in Leifthrasir with 'Classic Mode'.
It's a pity that Vanillaware looks down on PC gaming as 'degenerate', especially given just how big PC gaming has become in recent years. If I thought it would make a difference, I would start a petition to have Vanillaware bring their games to the PC market via GOG, starting with this gem. It doesn't even have to be Leifthrasir, I'd be happy with the OG getting ported over.
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions.
