I just finished playing through Nightmare Frames and it greatly surpassed any expectations. The writing is decent (especially if you are a horror movie fanatic), the characters are distinct and interesting, and the audio is excellent. While the game is not voiced, the environmental sounds and the faux 1980s songs sprinkled throughout are pretty good!
There are a few minor issues with the historical setting (calling 80s music "synthwave" being one of those), otherwise the game does a great job of making the player feel like they are experiencing that bygone decade of rich, white guys in Hollywood snorting cocaine, joining cults, and directing trashy horror flicks.
Not sure why GOG has chosen to overlook this game (or Postmodern Adventures' more recent release, An English Haunting), but they - and we - are missing out. This is one of the better examples of modern third-person, point-and-click adventures that I have stumbled across in the last few years.
