Story:The game revolves around the player completing quests and gathering materials to upgrade their equipment in order to advance. The more rare the items and equipment, the stronger the main physical aspects of the character will be. Unlike other hack 'n' slash games, this game requires planning and skill in order to overcome large monsters instead of brute force. There are many weapons which the hunter can use to bring down the monsters, these are sword and shield, great sword, dual swords, hammer, lance, bowgun and the heavy bowgun. Each requires a variety of items to create which are acquired by completing quests, and collecting the spoils carved from monsters or found on the ground.Show more

I'm currently playing this game on the PSP. While definitely not the best monster hunter out there, I feel that this game is at least worth giving a shot for any monster hunter fan out there. This game (and it's PS2 counterparts) are what built monster hunter as we know it today.
This is a Monster Hunter game that brings way more of an emphasis on gathering, preparing and actually living in the world, instead of just going to one monster after another mindlessly. Having to worry about your limited storage, money and items really shape a unique story and gameplay experience for everyone trying it out.
If you are looking for a slow burning game, that makes you sit down and plan out your strategy for each monster, as well as figure out your resources and how to make use of them for hours at a time, preparing yourself for the next big monster you must take down to proceed, I highly recommend it to those who are patient, and I wish that we can see this amazing piece of history in the monster hunter franchise be slightly modernized and easily-accessible.
I loved this game, it just felt special, the atmosphere was just so nice, the tranquility of Kokoto village, it's npcs tha from just noises yelled charisma, the feel of going on a Sunday walk through a mountain when going to a recollection quest in Verdant Hills, and some amazing fights like Velociprey and Iodrome

Tales of the TempestTales of the Tempest, the first Tales title for the DS concerns Caius, a boy with the ability to unleash the beast inside him, and his quest to find his true parents. The game is presented in 3D and uses a battle system similar to Tales of Rebirth. Enemies and allies are all on 3 lines, with the player switching between them at will. The Touch Screen may be used for special attacks never before seen in the Tales series, allowing lots more variety in battle. Star Ocean: First DepartureStar Ocean games are known for their real-time battle engines, and, for being one of the first of its kind to come to the consoles. Battles take place on a separate screen, but all characters (rather than waiting in one spot and taking damage) are fully mobile in three dimensions, can dodge and chase foes, and must cast their spells and deploy attacks despite enemy harassment. In the earlier games, magicians had spells, whereas fighters had special physical attacks called "Killer Moves"; both are learned after passing certain level requirements (or through specific items and sidequests) and cost HP or MP to use. In Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, all the characters are able to use spells and battle skills (i.e. killer moves).

The game is a departure from Dragon Slayer RPG-oriented gameplay style. It tends more towards medieval-themed platformer action. The hero has hit points, can buy items and weapons, use magic, and stay in inns to recover health. However, instead of receiving experience points and becoming stronger, you simply must attack quicker (by bumping into your opponent on platform levels) and jump higher.Action Fantasy
