I remember pre-ordering this game before pre-ordering was even really a thing, at least in my neck of the woods. I did so through Capcom's online store front, and got a bonus squishy Servbot for doing so!
And I am so glad I did. This game is tragically overlooked, despite doing so many things better than the original. The already fantastic graphics were pushed to another level, there was more variety in the locales you could visit, the mystery behind the story was more engrossing, and the morality system was better defined this time around, too.
It also introduces a host of returning and new characters into the mix, and many of the new characters became instant favorites, like the the veteran Air Pirates Bola and Klaymoor, who are just getting too old for this... er, stuff, and the mysterious Matilda, who holds ties to both MegaMan and Roll's pasts.
And of course, you can't have a Legends game without the Bonnes, can you? Not so far, anyway! In fact, they've been in more of the games than MegaMan himself!
Mega Man Legends is everything a good sequel should be: Bold and adventurous with new ideas mixed in with many of the things that made us love the original and want a sequel in the first place.
Of course, you can't talk about Mega Man Legends 2 without talking about its one tragic flaw: The ending.
It isn't a BAD ending, by any measure. The problem is, Capcom put the cart before the horse and ended it on a cliffhanger -- a cliffhanger that has gone unresolved for 25 years as of this year, and counting.
As a result, part of the importance of getting this game (and the others) on GoG is so more people can play it, see what they've been missing without spending hundreds of dollars for an incomplete used copy on eBay or dealing with hunting down a PlayStation 3 and dealing with the consumer-unfriendly store front, and demand with their wallets for Capcom to at long last bring some sense of well-overdue closure to this saga.
Let's bring MegaMan home!
