I am one of those old MS-DOS flight sim people that has always enjoyed the combat flight sim. Once I found combat flight sims that support multiplayer, it was a matter of helping friends and family members to get into them too. With Eagle Dynamics LoMAC: Flaming Cliffs 2, it was easy to do and to keep interest in it long after ED moved the community to DCS World 1.2 and Flaming Cliffs 3 as most family members were not financially able to make the move to FC3 due to hardware. Even now, I still buy old copies of this game ("LockON Platinum") when I find it, load it on some old hardware I find and donate it to young people who do not have the ability to get a computer on their own. The nice looking graphics of FC2 and the simulation realistic abilities give young people a real sense of accomplishment when they learn something and use it to get something done. Because I have used FC2 in order to inspire new kids (usually unfortunate kids) to become join the military or become pilots themselves, I see FC2 as a great opportunity for people who are curious without the funds to join the DCS World community yet. To this day, I still fly FC2 with friends and family on a regular basis as it seems many of them also have passed on the FC2 legacy of curious desire. For ED, this would be great since almost every one that really learns and enjoys FC2 will upgrade their computer systems and graduate to the DCS World community and start their own DCS module collections which many of us also get together to play with regularly too.
