First small but important info - despite the title, this game is vastly different than Laser Squad (or X-COM games). Instead of having Team of troops with customizable gear, it's more like classic strategy, with four sides of conflict, each has set of unique units.
That being said, it's also very fun and accessible game. It uses the system similar to the one in Combat Mission series, mixing turn-based and real-time system (you give orders, enemy give orders, then there is real-time execution). But in opposite to CM, the Laser Squad: Nemesis is in my opinion way more accessible (but still has enough tactical depth to be entertaining). I like the fact how different are specific sides of conflict (while Marines and Machines are relatively similar, Spawn is vastly different, focused on more melee units, quantity and brooding abilities of queen, and Greys are...specific). Campaign can be quite challenging, as it requires from you sometimes to use different tactics (like in the Spawn mission where you basically have only queen and need to "create" army during mission).
Aside from campaign, game also contains maps for skirmishes with either AI or with other player (hot-seat, there was also worldwide system for online matches, officially it's no longer functional, but there is fan-made equivalent to make it work).
I personally bought Polish retail version of this game in 2000', I didn't had back then any contact with Laser Squad or XCOM series, so I also didn't had any specific expectations. In the end I was very happy with the purchase, as game turned out to be entertaining and gave some "fresh look" on the turn-based strategy/tactic genre.
Overall - it's very fun game with lot of variety, quite good looking 2D isometric graphics, accessible and entertaining both in single player and multiplayer modes.
