I was a PlayStation kid, but I wouldn'tve been (maybe) if it weren't for the fact that my parents loved the Final Fantasy games- especially VI (or "III", as my mom still calls it), and Squaresoft put Final Fantasy VII on the original PlayStation a few months before I was born.
Fast forward to when I was about eight, and we'd had a PlayStation 2 for a few years. My mom was looking around a game store for a game for me, and she found a used copy of some "cute" looking game with Donald and Goofy on the cover, and a bunch of other Disney characters on the back. At the time, I was playing another game, so I didn't play it right away, but when I did... even though I was REALLY bad at it (again, I was eight) I was in love with it.
That game was Kingdom Hearts 1, a game that I have played through probably 20 times in my 27 years on this planet. I got the Platinum trophy on the PlayStation 4 AND PlayStation 3 (I do not recommend the PS3 platinum, btw- not fun lol) and if I owned the Steam versions, I'd do it a third time for the achievements. I have never Platinum'd KHII, but I've gotten close on PS3 and PS4.
I am somewhat of a completionist, but I don't really "Plat" a game unless I really enjoy it (it's quite a time sink). So... I think that sums up how I feel about these games.
I know that Square Enix is a little protective of their games, so they like putting DRM in them. I don't see why, though. Most of the fans of these games have bought them, like- four or five times already. Once on PS2, once on PS3, once on PS4, maybe once on Epic, once on Steam.
I'm not saying we'd ALL do it a sixth, but... if there was a DRM-free version, many of us would consider that the best option! I prefer buying most games here on GOG for that exact reason. I've re-bought other games on GOG for that reason. These are some of my favorite games of all time, so I would happily buy them again in a DRM-free format!
