Story:God of War is an action-adventure hack-and-slash video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). Initially launched for the PlayStation 2, the game stands as the first instalment in the God of War series and the third in chronological order. Loosely inspired by Greek mythology, it unfolds in ancient Greece with vengeance as its central theme. The player takes on the role of Kratos, the protagonist, a Spartan warrior devoted to the Olympian gods. Tasked by the goddess Athena, Kratos is assigned to eliminate Ares, the God of War and Kratos' former mentor. Ares had deceitfully manipulated Kratos into killing his wife and daughter. As Ares attacks Athens fueled by hatred for Athena, Kratos embarks on a quest to locate Pandora's Box, the sole object capable of permanently stopping the vengeful god.Show more

Unbelievable how the old God of Wars are still stuck on old consoles or just emulation. Played the entire trilogy plus the spinoff on the psp and enjoyed them all (for me they are even better of the newest ones). Really hoping Santa Monica or another studio under it remember to bring this masterpiece of a series on new hardwares!

Read a positive review in CD-Action and still waiting for a PC port as I do not like console controllers and prefer keyboard and mouse for gaming =) maybe I'm too old to be bothered with learning how to play well with a controller x) I think I was sold on the game and the character when they mentioned that Kratos can rip a foes arm off and beat them to death with their own arm. It is nice to have some action movie tropes transferred to games x)

For me this is the one (along with its spin-off and prequels). It´s very much what you could consider a Greek tragedy, Kratos to me felt like the product of his surroundings (he was a God slayer because that's what the gods were doing to each other from the very beginning) however Kratos was also a family man.
HOLD DEVILS POT OF TEA! MULAN! Memes aside. The fact the new God of war is available to buh not the classic ones that started the brutality of ultra violence vengeance of Kratos story is very criminal. Pure Testerone these games are and its amazing! Also its better to experience the story of Kratos yourself in this action packed game and its sequels. Please lets us have the original god of war games. GOG VOTERS! GIVE ME THE ORGINAL GOD OF WAR GAMES AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!

um dos meus jogos favoritos de todos os tempos, sem sombra de duvidas uma obra de arte que merece ser preservada!!! teriam o meu eterno respeito por esse feito
The game that started a franchise! I played this game after i finished GOW2 in a somewhat "prequel-y" type of fashion to understand what the underlying story was about. I started with GOW2 because it was the game that i saw an officemate play in the recreation room of our workplace during his lunch break. I was so astonished with the gameplay, that i decided to buy a PS2 console and a copy of GOW2 on that same day. Naturally, since that was the second game, i looked for the first. Luckily, i found one, so i started playing it after i finished GOW2. Gameplay-wise, it had the basic mechanics of what GOW2 had so masterfully implemented. and the graphics aren't so impressive compared to GOW2 either. But what drew me in was the story, and how it integrates seamlessly with GOW2's plot. It explained to me a lot of things that led Kratos to where he was in GOW2, so i was fortunate to have played the game and finished it. Of course, there were also some in-between stories like Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, and a prequel such as Ascension. but for me, these games are addons instead of a full story like GOW1, 2 and 3. It would be nice if this game, along with the others in the franchise, would be given the GoG treatment to help preserve them for future gamers to enjoy. Since i'm an oldtimer gamer, I also enjoy games that came much earlier in the history of gaming, so i'm sure gamers of today and in the future would really appreciate the effort in keeping these valuable games alive. 10/10 stars

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
