Ford Racing 2 was one of the earliest racing games I ever played, besides a demo of SEGA Rally Championship on the Saturn and Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed on PC. And is one I have fond memories of. I used to play this game a lot with kids my age, before going to school. And because it was a shared PC, we'd either start fresh and take turns unlocking cars or hop on a profile with progress on it and play in split-screen, with the already unlocked stuff.
To me, what made FR2 fun is... the whole package. From the selection of Ford vehicles to the different tracks with beautiful environments to the soundtrack itself. This was the game that introduced me to Pivit and made their song, "Cyberchrist", of which an instrumental version is played during the opening, one of my favorite songs ever.
I'd love to see this game on GoG for a few reasons. Besides wanting more people to be able to experience this fun game, Ford Racing 2 is one that, like many other classics, requires jumping through a few hoops to get it running on modern hardware. The big one being a requirement of an old audio codec so that the game can reproduce audio, otherwise it'll always crash when loading a save file.
