Why Isn’t Disciples 3: Reincarnation on GOG Yet?
Among all the major Disciples entries available on GOG — including Liberation! — Disciples 3 still remains absent. And that’s a shame, really, because Reincarnation isn’t just another re-release just for the sake of it, neither it is the definitive edition of Renaissance, no-no-no — it's far beyond.
Why all spotlights on this exact one? Well,
- It’s the most polished and feature-rich iteration, both technically and gameplay-wise
- It provides all sagas in a single package, with revamped missions, all under one executable — no fragmentation, just the complete Disciples 3 experience
- It has a built-in mapmaking tool (though, admittedly, with its own DRM quirks — fix that, please! ❤️ It will be appreciated so much by the fans!)
- Modding support via downloadable addons — do I have to explain its importance, really?
- It includes mod-compatible multiplayer
My journey through Nevendaar began back in ’07 with Sacred Lands, and I’ve been a devoted fan ever since. When Disciples 3 first launched in ’10 as Renaissance, I dove in pretty soon and fell in love with its world, characters, and storytelling. Sure, Renaissance has its rough edges, and there's plenty of them, but the hate it got online and in reviews never matched my own experience with the game back then.
Then came Reincarnation — a massive overhaul that fixed a ton of the previous entries issues (here I mean both Renaissance and Resurrection). The combat evolved, the progression improved, and the game became something truly special, something of its own. It may not be just for everyone, but it has a soul, and that’s what really matters.
To this day, I still play it — vanilla or modded, any way I can. And now, I’m hoping this little tribute helps to bring one of my favourite games to the best platform out there. GOG, it's time to make it happen!
