Red Alert 2 was really the height of the series. The cheesy over-the-top villainy of the Soviets and Yuri combined with the crazy sci-fi gadgetry and the charming FMV movies introducing each mission were at their peak here. The sides were not terribly well balanced, but the game was fun and memorable in a good way, there was a good variety of units to employ with different roles and use cases, from soldiers with jet packs to giant super tanks to flying saucers, super weapons to break up late-game stalemates, and neutral tech buildings to give mini-objectives to fight over. It's just a good, well done game that later releases tried and failed to surpass, and a full release on GOG with the level editor included would be worth a great deal to me and many others.
As in, I might just pay full price, even though I own it on Steam. That's how much.
