I played with with my two brothers back in the Windows XP days. It was on an eGames shareware disk our parents got for us at some point. This was one of my first strategy games that I ever played on the PC, and it was a blast! Trying to scratch off territory from max IQ and aggression AI was challenging, and I'd often have to team up with player 2 (one of my brothers) to beat them.
There were also some interesting base map designs, such as having two continents (one large, one small), a lava river cutting off most means of pushing territory borders, a ring where you could easily get squished between two aggressive AI and struggle to even survive, etc. It also came with a level editor, which due to having the shareware version throughout my childhood, I never got to use sadly. I'm sure I would have loved to use it and test out custom levels with my brothers.
The whole territory war and fairly simplistic color painting mechanic made it easy to learn, and the various turrets/weapons/brushes at your disposal to use offered a fair bit of variety between rounds. I especially liked the hexagonal turret that evenly spread out your colors in all directions, as well as the 3-orb turret that would spread out little dots of your color in random splotches in all directions. There's also nuke and earthquake brushes that are great for offensive pushes. I loved nuking an AI I had cornered and forcing them to surrender.
Sure, in hindsight, there aren't a lot of built-in levels or even depth to the game, but there's enough of it to have a couple hours of fun at least! It has a short single-player campaign and two-player local multi-player. Sadly, it's nearly impossible to find the game to download and play nowadays. There are probably a few shareware disks still floating about that have it for those inclined, and there used to be a website someone made to preserve it, but the latter is gone now from what I can tell.
This game needs preserved on GOG (and other spots too)!
