Story:Sid Meier's CivNet is a remake of the original game with added multiplayer, improved graphics and sound, and Windows 3.1/95 support. Gameplay is almost identical to the original game. There are several methods of multiplayer, including LAN, primitive Internet play, hotseat, modem, and direct serial link.

The original Civilization - but better
This Windows version of Civilization came with high res graphics (well ... 1990s high res) and was created to be played in Multiplayer on Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.
Being one of the early games actually developed for Windows, back in the days it was a bit unstable, I had game crashes once in a while.
But I played it up and down, hour after hour anyway.
German magazine GameStar had CivNet as a cover disk full version of the game. I played it a lot because it was easy to run on Windows in the second half of 1990. I had a lot of fun playing it. It should be on GOG as it is the best Version of Civilization I, except maybe for the Macintosh version. But CivNet was never fully debugged, as someone involved in the development told me, so the remaining bugs have to be fixed for the GOG release.
This is one of the few games I played all the way to the end. I prefer the 2-D map to the newer 3-D versions. It makes it easier to tell exactly where units are. I don't remember if tne network connection worked over the internet. I did connect two computers on my personal network and that worked well.

Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions.
