Mein erstes "Ys" und nicht das letzte
Diese Instanz von "Ys" hat mich von der ersten Minute an mitgenommen. Es ist eine Reise, die liebevoller, abenteuerlicher und im gleichen Zuge entspannender kaum sein könnte. Gleichzeitig ist dieses "Ys" - nach einem gescheiterten Versuch, das allererste Spiel zu spielen - mein erstes "Ys", und ich bin mir heute schon sicher, dass noch viele, viele andere Teile folgen werden. Das sind meine Top-Facts für "Ys: Ark of Napishtim": + eine wunderbare Ästhetik, die 2D-Sprites auf eine Weise mit den dreidimensionalen Hintergründen vereint, die absolute Erkennbarkeit und traumhafte Landschaften ermöglicht - nun, vielleicht insbesondere für Retro-Fans wie mich + eine Spielbarkeit, die leicht von der Hand geht und selbst in den Sprungpassagen passgenaue Steuerung ermöglicht + ein motivierendes Gameplay mit Level-Ups, Schwertupgrades, neuer Ausrüstung und Gegenständen und mehr - so macht Rollenspiel(-Lite) Spaß! + eine Story mit tollen Charakteren - sympathisch, voller Abenteuer und einfach zum Gernhaben

My second Ys game
This feels pretty good to play. The controller controls are a little odd but I'm coming from the switch Ys Origin. Looking forward to this. Music is bangin

Grind
No wonder I'm stuck. It's all about the grind but right here it's to the point artificial game time is added. Such a shame since it could be a game with no-go zones until a level or 2 in another dungeon or zone and leveling was way faster.

Fun action rpg
This is a nice action RPG which moves fairly fast. I like the graphics style of mixing 2D and 3D, and it manages to run quite well on my 10 year old non-gaming laptop, which is a great plus. The story is traditional JRPG fare. Good for keeping you going, not so much for thinking. As other reviews have mentioned, the game does require a bit of grind, but I found that every time I did level up myself and my weapons, it an improvement which was satisfyingly felt. There were a couple areas where I really struggled going into, having to find ways to fight some enemies to even damage them. But usually one levelup of tricky combat, and they turned from daunting threats to doable enemies. And by the time I'd finished off an area, the big threats were something to just dispatch easily. Quite satisfying even if it took some work to get there. My main gripe lies not with the grind (That is part and parcel of any jrpg, at least this has action too), but rather having to traipse back and forth trying to find out where I could progress the story and hint at which area I might be able to tackle next. In all, I quite enjoyed my time with the game. Recommended if the aesthetics appeal to you, you want some not too deep action and don't mind grinding a bit.
