World Rally Fever: Born on the Road

Presentation of a really good Sega Saturn game. Gamplay reminds me of the arcade game "Power Drift". None of those statements are a condemnation, as the Saturn was one of the best home consoles made, and Power Drift is an absolutely fantastic racing game. What wasn't clear to me after I started playing this was that all of the drivers have different stats - you're left to pick each one to see for yourself how they handle. It's a trade off: you have to USE all of the drivers to see which one you like, but you need to keep starting a GP race, as there's no "practice" or "time trial". Never knew about this game until I saw it on GOG. Nice surprise.

An unknown gem (at least for me) of retro racing! It combines truely great looking sprites with some 3D elements to form a unique look that I cannot describe different than beautiful. I love how the different courses look, France being my favorite together with Scotland. The church you drive around, and the castle in the distance are a pleasure to look at. Coming to racing action, I like that it is not as fast-paced as other titles, and a bit more forgiving when driving around. The New York track has some jump sequences I could hardly handle, but I'm sure I will with some training. The computer seems to make no mistakes at all, even in Rookie mode. But that doesn't keep me from giving full recommendation at sales-price for World Rally Fever.

I remember playing this demo - I loved worms at the time and found it while paroozing the Team17 site. I would play it over and over, normally trying to hit the sheep, but it had the most depth and was the most fun out of any of the racers I played at that time.

Really love it. I had never heard of the game back then and only saw it when it was on GOG for discount during a sale. Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised how well it plays. The controls are VERY arcade and the difficult curve is pretty steep. It's quite a challenge and i must say this game deserves all the love it can get. A wonderful GOG release :) It reminds me a lot of "Street Racer" only with Anime Style.
