The final fight.

Wizardry 8 comes as the last game of the Wizardry series. Because of the financial situation of SIR-TECH at the time, Wizardry 8 almost never saw the light of day - but the programmers got together, pitched in their own coin - and pushed Wizardry 8 through the door. They continued to work on patching the game, even as SIR-TECH was closing down their doors. Wizardry 8 is a great game (sometimes difficult; but which Wizardry game wasn't?). It even gained the interest of my wife, who managed to beat the game before I did, despite the fact I had started it two weeks before her. I would highly recommend this game; even now, dated as it may be.

Easily one of my Favorite RPGs!

Switch it to turn based (not continious) to give yourself a little thinking time and this RPG is very fun. Perks vs older Wizardry games: Has maps! Unique formations giving all ranged, all melee, and mixed groups ways of fighting that keeps the heat off those you want protected and keeps the heat on those you want taking your damage. Yes the game is difficult at first, but compared to the other Wizardry games, this one seems like the easiest learning curve. Start with Wizardry 8 to get a feel for the system, and move backwards to more immersive/difficult titles like Wizardry 6/7.

SIMPLY THE GREATEST GAME EVER...

THE SINGLE GREATEST RPG OF ALL TIME! I have been around since Pong and played every RPG since, including the entire D&D Gold Box series and the entire Might & Magic series. I honestly don't think I've missed a single game worth playing. WIZARDRY 8 is simply awesome from start to finish in every aspect. It's graphics are Godlike for its time, and its playability and storyline are unmatched to this day. Even with games like Dragon Age and Skyrim, I still go back and play trough Wizardry 8 about every 2 years... and each time, its every bit as fun as the first. My children (now ages 24 and 25) still do the same thing, playing it through every couple years since the age of 13 or so. I've jumped 22,000 out of a plane before, and with similar regard, I consider THIS game to be something that I am happy to have experienced in my life. I simply cannot recommend this game enough. It is nearly flawless <3

Game runs fine on modern PCs

I bought Wizardry 8 for the first time yesterday on November 8th, 2022 for my modern Windows 10 PC and the game runs fine. The reviews here talking about how this game doesn't work on modern systems almost made me not try this amazing game but they're wrong! I attribute their issues to user error. The game DOES work on modern systems and can even handle mods. I never crashed once, it worked straight out of the box so to speak. The game play is great but I wanted to focus on the technical side of things since the reported issues here almost made me move on. TL;DR: Game runs fine on modern PCs and can handle mods.

Pleasant Surprise

I've been craving a good dungeon crawler for a long time. I liked Grimlock, enough, but I've never been too into the genre. However, I'm always looking out for games like this. Yeah, it's old, but it aged well. At first I thought it was going to be grid based, but it was not! This game lets you look around freely, and move anywhere. There are zones, but the areas are so large it isn't a problem. Character customization is great, the few voiceovers are superb. The Combat is intense and immensely tactical. There are many times I fought my way out of a losing situation, because I thought about my situation and worked out of it. Brilliant Game, would recommend!
