Wing Commander™ 1+2

Wing Commander 1 started it all for me in my passion for space combat simulators, it was THE game I always enjoyed playing with no limit to the number of playthroughs I would complete for the sole purpose of flying the glorious A-14 Raptor. However to my dismay I had always wanted to go further: Playing all the other Wing Commanders, but with every rig I owned they would never work, leaving me only with Wing Commander 1. This changes it as it includes Vengeance of the Kilrathi, my dream is finally in motion and I certainly hope that it presses on with more WC titles entering the catalogue!

Finally I can buy Wing Commander 1 and 2 without paying Collector-Prices on ebay! Both games are absolute classics and i hope, that GOG will release the other Wing Commander-Games as well. Maybe if enough people buy them here, there will be a Wing Commander 6?^^

The first game blew my mind when I found out how many branching paths there were depending on how well you did on your missions. The second game is much like the first but is more narratively focused. The story was actually pretty good. Although I did run into more bugs in wing commander 2 (crashes, audio glitches where the wrong track plays. The mouse controls were very touchy for me as well so I mostly used spacebar instead of clicking) Another problem is the framerate when there are too many ships on the screen. In conclusion, I would recommend these game to anyone who likes classic space games, so long as you can stomach a few bugs.

I originally got a PC in 1991 and one of the first games I got hold of was Wing Commander with the mission packs. Just going into the store and seeing the jaw-dropping graphics and *gasp* speech was enough to excite and 16 year old gamer. I installed the game and pretty much spent every waking moment playing through the fantastic story-based missions. As you'd expect, the game is 20 years old and graphics have dated but that is why we're here at GOG. Not because of the graphics (although they help) but because the games are still great! This one is no exception. Nice, simple controls leaving you with simply getting on with the missions. This game kept me coming back for more and its arrival on GOG is both overdue and very much welcome. $6 for both classic games? Guaranteed hours upon hours of fun gameplay with a great storyline? What are you waiting for? Add it to your cart and get buying!

Absolutely wonderful pack, a deal like this is unavoidable: you can't miss it. I remember being that little kid in love with science fiction who discovered this game at a friend's house. The next day I went to spend every single lira I had in my pocket on a copy of my own. It gifted me with absolute immersion, great space simulation, a feeling of wonder and excitement in the foreshadowing of the next battle... Does it make me too old to say that I really miss space combat simulation like this? Nowadays they're not here anymore... I wonder why O_______O
