I did have fun with it

The graphics are nice, and gameplay wasn't bad. I didn't experience any bugs that I'm aware of, however, I've only played the first chapter. My one complaint is the hunger meter falls just a little too fast. By the time a piece of meat has finished cooking I've lost another chunk of health. Animals (food) don't respawn unless you die. I think the berries do respawn, or they seemed to, but don't really give much health or hunger relief. I felt like I wasn't able to explore or take any time to do anything other than rush to the next island. The timed mechanics could stand a little tuning. I did have fun, and I'm sure my character will either get stronger or get better weapons as I progress. I don't think it deserves such harsh reviews. I didn't find bugs, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Keybinding could be useful for some who need to customize their layout. It has a lot of potential, in my opinion. It would, however, benefit from some patching and polish.

I can see their vision, needed more time

I preordered this after seeing some gameplay that piqued my interest; and tried to return within 20 minutes of being able to install it. How this was allowed to be released without any option to remap the keys or controller layout is beyond me. After waiting a day for GOG to respond, I decided to punish myself and just play through it. The graphics are reminiscent of Breath of the Wild ( you can even craft a glider that serves nearly no purpose). Kara looks great (her name only mentioned in the games description.) along with the various wildlife and weapons. The environments are sparely used until the last 2 chapters, which I would have loved to see more of early on. Unfortunately, the chapters are mostly empty with only a handful of islands worth exploring merely to find your typical power-ups ( no dungeons or caves. only destroyed huts and alters and graveyards.) The title music and calm sailing music are great but everything else will become annoying by chapter 2 if you choose to scour the chapters section of ocean. Sounds tend to glitch if your using any type of elemental bow. Combat feels awkward in the sense that aggressive enemies can out maneuver you by speed or appendage and feel like they have smaller hit boxes yet bigger attack ranges and are often launched into the air like a rocket when defeated that may or many not be harvested. I completed the game in story mode in 6-7 hours exploring all the islands I came across. you could probably burn through this in 2-4 hours if you just hit the towers. Survival mode merely to allow you to grind shell spirits to be offered for unbreakable gear or artifacts ( just craft a Tempest Bow) if you want to collect everything by dying and playing through the chapters again The story try's hard to be a fusion of Journey meets Abzu but failed to connect me emotionally, since you encounter nothing, no NPC's, not even another washed up body. This is not worth 30 bucks, at 10-15 it would be worthy of a third star

Unfinished / Abandoned?

bought the game on day one at first it was a really neat concept of a game but after few months decided to return back to the game to see what was added and then i realized that nothing had changed it's still the same unfinished shell of game, sailing around aimlessly and diying over and over i got the sudden erge to return to a game that's got far more fun and has far more in the early access then this game does Valheim.

Beautiful

Beautiful waves, Beautiful ocean physics, Beautiful sailing experience (especially once you start expanding your boat). I would've liked the game to be harder earlier though. Once it gets going there's not many chapters left.

Soooo much potential, but...

...too repetitive. It's still a good game with an interesting premise and interesting ship building mechanic. Grab it cheap, enjoy it.
