Beschreibung

Hunderte Charaktere. Tausende Variationen des Aussehens deiner Ranger. Mehr als 150 Waffen. Unzählige Fertigkeiten. Und selbst die Oberfläche kann angepasst werden.

While echoes of the original release pacing problems remain, the Director's Cut does much to add variety to the experience with new features such as perks, quirks, and precision aiming. It's likely not enough to warrant a replay if you've already finished it, but if this is your first foray into inXile's bleak vision of the future, this is the best place to start off.

Despite some gameplay flaws, Wasteland 2 gets a lot of things right for the genre. Fans of isometric, hardcore RPGs will find a detailed world to explore in the title. inXile Entertainment provides deep attention to detail on an awe-inspiring level. Creation of independent currencies and social hierarchies in the game create a living environment. Fully fleshed-out NPCs with voice-overs add to the detail of the wastes and make characters more than just placeholders. Interacting with the environment may lead to new clues and options for gameplay. Wasteland 2 is full of player choice and replayability that will keep players busy for a while. With gameplay easily exceeding 80 hours of content, Wasteland 2 is not for the faint of heart. Those who appreciate challenging experiences and detailed world-building will find Wasteland 2: Director's Cut an important installment in their RPG library.

How about digital deluxe edition...

For starters I'll say it: I played before. Yep, before buying, not as a demo nor as a gift from a friend, a free dark controversial illegal version of the game because I do believe in try before buy experience, because everyone who give money for something usually is to compensate expetations in return, and here I am, after a while at the end I do buy games for real, so have faith in humans! I do believe also in the meaning to be free to use something I buy where ever I want, when ever I want, so I found the same game in steam but after getting knoledgeable about how they see the world I preferred to give a chance to GOG. Back to the game. It's a good isometric game. Hours of fun. Not a memorable game, but still, one to be in library as strategic kinda form of gdr, with sci-fi. So how about digital deluxe edition as I written in the title? I'm not happy. About AVELLONE NOVEL, it's marked as EXTRA, it's coming... but it is not. It's not coming from a 2014 game anymore, this is a missing piece. I'm not happy for the digital deluxe because it offers nothing. 90MB map: If you bought the game you would know what I'm talking about: a piece of paper scanned as pdf, high quality pdf, that's it. Nothing interesting inside, nothing useful. Three wallpapers? Nothing special. Artbook? Low quality artbook, lucky me! All the rest is my opinion is just heavy junk to recycle after downloading. Perhaps it's me, I do not appreciate, or maybe it's just them, to beef up to make it more expensive. This is my first order on GOG, what I did it was a test to getting knowing each other. Next time next game I'll buy the simplest one, plain as it comes. You will understand English is not my first language, this is my second one and probably the last one, but I'm trying hard to improve, even if human time is a limited form of experience, so do not take offence about all the details mistakes, try to picture the frame for a bit of distance to get it. Thank you!

Not even good for what it is.

This game was originally presented, as I understood it at least, as a cousin to the Fallout series in the sense that they would both be spiritual sequels to the classic Wasteland, though taking different directions. In the event, WL2 ended up being a very straight sequel, setting-wise at least, to Wasteland; very un-Fallout-like and unfortunately also very basic. The graphics and interactivity certainly are a great leap from the late 80s classic to, well, err, 2006 or so anyway, but the complexity of the storytelling and characterization isn't anything that would strain a Commodore 64. So what we're left with is pretty much a tactical shooter with some quests and RPG-ish elements in a post-apocalyptic setting. The writing is decidedly mediocre, often badly spelled at least (at release anyway), and the characters are very flat and do not evoke the least bit of sympathy or attachment. As I mentioned before, WL2 feels very outdated for a 2015 shooter. I'd compare it to Silent Storm from 2003. As a shooter it is not bad, though the AI is dumber than expected and using anything but assault rifles is pointless. The story is a paint-by-the-numbers struggle vs an evil villain's henchmen leading up to a final battle against the villain himself and a credits roll. At least I assume so, I didn't bother finishing the final battle at seal beach because it was easier to finish the game by skipping it and just proceeding straight to the uninstaller. Finally, I've bought a lot of games over the years and I'm hardly poor but even so the worst thing about this to me was that I spent $60 on it. I wouldn't have bought it at all if I'd known better obviously but that they charge $60 for this uninspired low-effort bin filler is especially galling. Even if you love this sort of thing there are many, many better games in the $15-$20 range.

Very, very Dissapointed

Had really high hopes for this game, and shelved it 3/4 of the way through. 1. It's very buggy. The first part (Arizona) is ok; there are at least no bugs that will require you to look up a work-around or get through a quest. The second part (California)? Look out. I've run into at least 2 major bugs that frankly I can't think of a good excuse for - one is main-quest-crippling; the other is a logistics bug that is not game ending but REALLY annoying. Did the studio not even bother to play through the main quest before release? 2. The story and writing sucks. Sorry, but there's just no other way to put it. The main story is amateurish, predictable, and laughable in its attempt to be "hardcore." The side quests are so much worse they almost make the main story look passable. Also, I have no problem with "adult" language and content, especially in a game like this (I hope for it, actually), but in this case it's so pathetically over-done that it appears the writers were just trying to be as "shocking" as possible, and it comes off as transparent and ridiculous. 3. The overall gameplay design is poor. In some cases I "get" what the designers were attempting, but when I have to save-spam to open a safe that is the key to an entire side quest, because my character (at level 8/10 in the skill) critically fails to pick the lock 40% of the time - thereby rendering the safe inoperable and the quest unplayable - that just feels like laziness or ineptitude on the part of the designers. 4. The much-trumpeted "no good choice" decision tree is a gimmick, and a poor one at that - it just falls flat. Even though you are forced, early in the game, to make a choice between saving one settlement or another, it actually matters not a whit which you pick. Instead of rewarding us for choices, this game makes them meaningless. Conclusion - this feels like a game in which the studio took the money of a well-meaning and hopeful fan-base and wasted it. I wish I hadn't bought it.

Maybe oversimplified, still atmospheric

Yes, the gameplay is not such an epic, and there are no superheros. You don't have a fancy charater making as in Divinity The original sin. Indeed this game has fewer colors in some way, still I believe it to be intentional, as they pay much respect to those early RPGs. Wasteland2 is very unique, apparently categorized as "apocalypse", which we are inclined to associate with modern titles like fallout3, but I found it to be a twisted "fantasy" RPG, translated into the vocabulary of guns and grenades. Naturally, this title cannot live up to the expectation to RPG lovers without such context (I think this could have been considered well in some negative reviews). The combat is restricted by available weapons and medical kits (no mass-heal, no stoneskin). Player characters cannot be resurrected after their real death. Some people might not like this kind of unavailability, but, along with a good amount of text, which is mostly descriptive about "the Apocalypse", the world of despair itself, I personally was very attached to some pcs and npcs in there. The part I liked the most was an AG center in the early-stage. It almost felt like another survival RPG is contained in the scenario. Interestingly enough, here you can resolve a couple of problems in many ways, and sometimes you combine words and deeds, then save (or cost) a lot of bullets and lives. Violence is not always the sole answer. And those consequences lead to another ways of unfolding of the story... In early 2000s, I used to play Baldur's gate, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Arcanum. All these titles vary from each other in terms of length and playability and so on, but I liked each of them, since they are consistent. It sometimes makes us feel dull, but still after a few moons, we come back and keep on... I think Wasteland2 can be recommended to those game fans with a similar taste. So I'm very glad to hear the announcement recently, that this game would be ported into other consoles!

Does more right than wrong

I'm not particularly a fan of the post-apocalyptic setting but this game (as well as Fallout) have me interested because of how engaging both these series are. As for this game though, it borderlines on mediocracy and sometimes over into greatness, but much like the raids from the Wrecking Crew; you never know when it's going to come. The graphics are so-so, nothing special, but not bad either. The environments look nice whilst the character models aren't, the sound effects are average whilst the music is atmospheric and immersive. You can see what I'm getting at here, for everything this game does right there is something wrong to bring it down. However, the good side of this game is stronger than the weaker side. Creating a fully custom party of 4 and then expanding it up to 7 is great, just great and the dialogue system is awesome. They moved on from the initial keyword system to conversation words and it works nicely. Any of your characters can participate given they meet the corresponding skill. The turn-based combat is extremely fun and highly tactical, too, where positioning, weapon type and any potential skill(s) are key to victory. RNG exists and can screw you over but you can mitigate this with things like distance and "optimal range" for your chosen weapon. There're variety of builds you can make and messing around with them is incredibly fun. The story and characters are surprisingly good with a simple setup that later evolves and blends in with the world building. You navigate the map to go to locations, avoiding radiated areas and discovering hidden caches and locations. There's just A LOT to love about this CRPG and it's really up there with other similar ones and Fallout as far as I'm concerned. This game is fun, humorous, content-filled and intricate. If you can overlook mediocracy and jank you're in for a good time.
