Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat

Game works perfect, no Crashes, both on my Gaming Desktop Pc 8pretty much newest Hardware available) and my really weak Laptop from work. Perfect memory of my childhood, and still a very challenging and rewarding game

This was my first strategy game when we bought PC with a pentium processor and Windows 95 OS back then. I was still a child and this game was damn too hard for me. I love this type of Warhammer games (mid-ages mixed with fantasy). Now i bought it on GOG and want to finish the game. There are negative and positive sides of the game. There are a lot of bugs in the game. Mortar units somehow die themeself. Archers sometimes cant take a shot no matter what and the Wizard is not casting a spell. These bugs can make you very angry and can ruin the game experience while it is a well crafted story and there are a lot of types for units in the game. I cant find any patches to fix the bugs and it runs only on very low resolution.

I just got this as part of the Goodie pack and it WORKS FINE on my Win10 64-bit laptop. I had to be a little patient at the Prepare for Battle screen but didn't wait long for the battle to commence. It's on old game and it's been years since I played so the interface - especially without pop-up labels - will take some re-learning but once there I expect this to be as fun as it always was. Falls into the same category as "Final Liberation" for me. They are old but still hold up as enjoyably bringing the tabletop games to life on my screen.

Just wanted to add that this works for me on Windows 7. Very hard game, just got slaughtered on mission 1! It is the sort of game which takes lots of time to get to know the game mechanics, luck and experimenting to get things right. I only ever got to about mission 5 originally. Lets see how far I can get now!

I'm running windows 10 preview with Nvidia gtx-650ti gfx and intel i5-4670k cpu. After reading the reviews I decided to run in windows compatibilty mode (win98 setting). So far im up to the 5th mission with no crashes. Yes the game is hard but its worth it for the pure nostalgia it brings with it.
