Ultima™ IV: Quest of the Avatar

Quite possibly the best RPG ever made. It was arguably improved upon in the future but this is what started it all at least for me. The game that really put Ultima as the grand master of RPG's in computer gaming in the 80's and the early 90's.

In the summer of 1985 I played Ultima IV: Quest of Avatar more than anything else I did. More than 2 decades later I still have fond memories of this awesome game. Thanks Richard Garriot. Can't wait to hear that music again.

A friend lent me his original U4 (back then computer games were freaking hard to find in Brazil). I was awed for the material inside the box - but even more with the game. I still have Ultima 9 Ascension - the huge Dragon Box, which comes with all the older games and lots of stuff (including a small ankh) - and guess which game besides U9 I started re-playing? U4, of course!

They don't make games like this any more! A true Role playing game where you have to BECOME the Avatar, not just do a few missions. Yes, the graphics are dates...its 25 years old! But the story and the game play mechanics are still as vibrant as they were back then. Lord British's magnum opus!
