Ultima™ 9: Ascension

Its the finale... and it gives the Avatar a great send off.. but technically its flawed.. and a lot of that comes from Electronic Arts being a terrible corporate entity that absorbed popular smaller studios and then churning what they could out of them.. squezzing them dry.. which is on them but also on the owners of Origin for getting into bed with them// but thats like.... 30 years too late.. so enjoy this entry.. its not perfect but it is good.

Ultima IX was the only Ultima game I played, but it left a lasting impression. I played it when I was young, and despite its flaws, I have a lot of fond memories exploring Britannia and getting lost in its world. It's a shame it wasn't better polished — the bugs and performance issues held it back from greatness — but there's still something magical about it. A flawed gem, but a memorable one.

Like Ultima VIII this is no real Ultima game considering the complexity and size of its predecessors. The amount of bugs and the abysmal performance on anything aside from 3dfx cards did not help this game either. But after a lot of patches and a new generation of graphics hardware I was able to play the game. Its a nice open world game. You can go where you want to, but you might get killed if you are not strong enough. The world design is quite nice (e.g. visit Moonglow at night) and sometimes you can see the good old Ultima focus on details. Compared to its predecessors the world is quite empty and the dungeon puzzles are primitive. But it can still be fun to play. Give it a try if you like role playing games and the open world style.

Yeah, there is many bugs, technical problems, some dungeons have very poor level design, some other things are strange, the others Ultima games are maybe better BUT... it´s enjoyable with the quide and manual, the music is very nice and you get some great akcion too and some sidequest. But it is still Ultima whatever u say. Dont forget for a one importatnt thing... when u look out of the window, u ll see the living world in real time there is nothing like a texture of window, no loadings screens.... so the Oblivion games and the newest games are in this are going to FAIL. I love this game even its the wors ultima game maybe but the atmosphere is fantastic .

I have played every game in the series. I quite enjoyed all of them, quit whining that a video game didnt stay consistant!!!!
