True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 2 is the sequel to one of the best rated horror escape games, acclaimed for its story and the atmosphere of horror mystery.
True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 1 is #3 on GamesRadar “The 10 best hidden object games you can play right now” list, praised for an “engrossing puzzle gameplay“ and being a “impressively scream-worthy experience”. We've built on our know-how of making a story rich horror mystery escape game to craft a better and significantly longer adventure sequel.
Holly Stonehouse followed the clues from her old family house to finally arrive at the Dark Falls Asylum and again see that someone was there before her, waiting for her. However this time she is no longer a spectator and what follows her is no longer just a shadow - the danger is real as the Asylum comes alive at night. Collecting clues, going through notes and photographs, unlocking devious puzzles and constructing complex chains of adventure actions, help Holly escape the night and find the answers. Was her mother crazy or was there really another sister? Did her mother commit suicide? How could Dahlia “come back” after the fire and who or what is the terrifying thing that Holly saw at Heather's house and that kept following her ever since?
True Fear: Forsaken Souls is a trilogy and Part 2, longer, with twice the puzzles and with even better graphics, will not disappoint you!

Pretty good adventure game. If you didn't catch the drift, it is horror. Full of jumpscares, and creeping horror. It is a good extension of its predecessor, part 1. Longer with more puzzles than part 1. I wouldn't say it is a pure hidden object, more of a point and click adventure. It stands well on its own as a point and click adventure. I cannot say much about the plot without spoiling everything, but it also has a decent story. I would recommend this title to people who love adventure or horror or both.
This games was long anticipated and when it finally came out I bought it right away. Technically, it's amazing: breathtaking backgrounds, sublime music, dense atmosphere. It is with more puzzles and less hidden object scenes, plus it's lees creepy than the first part, which I missed a bit, but I guess that's just personal taste.
But overall, the game stumbles upon its overcomplexity. The devs tried to top their previous "True Fear" game and they tried too hard. The game is very, very long - in fact, it's so long that it became a bit annoying and hard to keep your curiosity while playing. At one point I just wanted to know the end of the story. Said story is complex and confused and it gets harder and harder to keep track with the big picture, because clues are so detailed. After the end of game 1 I just wanted to know what's behind Holly and her sister(s) and who the creepy girl is, but now you find yourself digging in an endless labyrinth of notes, diary entries, and photos. The game left a bit, well, unsatisfied regarding the story line.
I would recommend it, because it still is a marvellous game, but after playing it I got an idea, why it took Goblinz so terribly long to finish it. This is certainly one ambitous piece of work, and in some places - unfortunately - too ambitious.
I recently played part 1 of the franchise and even though I am not a big fan of hidden object games I really liked it - because they basically made the HOG scenes optional (in this game they are completely absent) and also offered quite a lot optional help as well so it won't get frustrating. Also the story they told there was amazing and mysterious. As a true story lover I could not wait to play the sequel and I thought I could finish it in6-7 hours. Boy, was I wrong. This game is far longer than the first part and - as it has been said already - much more complex regarding the storyline and all the clues you are trying to piece together to figure out what actually happened. While I do agree that the game has become longer and the plot has become more complex I consider this to be a good thing. With so many information you really are starting to figure out the true story long after the game is finished and a game that is still resonating after you have finished it will always be a good game for me. The game is the second part of a trilogy with the third part as well as an additional free extra episode is still in the making right now. Still - as with part 1 - the game has a ending that works. Several questions remain unanswered but somehow this also adds to the mystery. Graphics are even better than the graphics in part 1 and they also managed to make the inventory puzzles a lot more logical/believable. This game is highly recommended for every point and click fan.
I got this on deep sale thinking it was like those Big Fish hidden object games, expecting a generic point/click hand held easy game to waste a few hrs in. What I got was an immersive deep point/click adventure where you have to think about the clues and what you have to do. I played on expert for the most part but admit to changing to casual occasionally in order to get a clue on the map of where i need to go next. There are no hidden object mini games. Autosaves are seamless. Easy load screens.
there is alot of back tracking but you do have fast travel.
Puzzles are mainly inventory based combining on a hot spot in the landscape. the music is atmospheric and unobtrusive. The graphics are very lush and creepy. You really want to keep going in order to see the next room. Best part is the journal/clue book where scraps of paper and photos are placed, sometimes theres an audio file that plays, simultaneously your character makes her own notes next to the found info, this leads to a real time feel of exploration and immersion. I really wanted to know what the heck was going on. I must admit to abandoning so many AAA games recently such as Cyberpunk, Witcher, Borderlands etc, because of their many irritations, grind, complexity that cut into enjoyment. This game is easy on hands, mind and is just pure entertainment.
some cons, unless you play on expert there are glimmers on hot spots which i abhor. The jump scares are more cheesy than frightening. some illogical inventory/hot spot combining solutions. some puzzles were obtuse but you can skip them.
Bought it while I was still playing part 1 and I don´t regret it. As good looking as the first part. I like the doll which you can use to solve puzzles, should you lack the patience (happens to me sometimes). Nice little irony in the comments if key numer xxx is missing :) Even some shock moments.
I would recommend it to players who don´t like to waste their lifetime on searching for the right place to do the right thing. Who love a good horror story without expecting heart attacks. Who want to be entertained straight away.
Like me.
