Unbalanced final boss

I took my dual-wielding vanquisher throughout the game with the same build without any issues. Then I hit the final boss. For starters, my PC at the time couldn't handle the sheer amount of enemies on screen — up until that point I'd had absolutely no framerate problems whatsoever. And what little damage I dealt got completely healed every time the boss cannibalized its minions, meaning I had no chance of winning the battle. In other words, the build that had been working from the first room until the penultimate one was basically useless against the final boss. I tried to fix it using some spare points I still had, but to no avail. Overall, it was a fun playthrough, except for that frustrating showdown. And, of course, I never got to finish the game…

Mediocre Diablo 1 clone

The gameplay is pretty much Diablo 1 with 3d graphics, gameplay that is less challenging and overall dumber, despite putting in some innovations that only showed up in Diablo 2, and and none of the atmosphere of the original. Admittedly, it's been a very long time since I played Diablo, so maybe I'm looking at it through nostalgia-tinted glasses and it would bore me as much as this game if I tried replaying it now. Anyway, not very good, won't finish, uninstalling after a few hours.

better the diablo 1 modded

never played torchlight but i can now see why this is the new looter dungeon diving rpg that makes me side eye blizzard even more.

A modern Diablo II

This is a recreation of Diablo II. The people who developed this game actually developed Diablo for Blizzard before Activision bought blizzard. Conceptually, it plays just like Diablo II. You have a few people giving you quests, a teleporter that sends you to various waypoints, you can add gems to items, and even gamble at certain vendors. You can even transmute items. You have both a character stash and a player stash (which is shared among all your characters; and essentiall give items to other characters that can better use them or a new character.) There are multiple classes with different skill trees. You also have a pet which will reincarnate if it gets killed. Your pet has a inventory and you can use your pet for additional storage, or send him back to town to sell the items you gave him. You will not recognize any spells, items, creatures, or classes from Diablo as they have all changed significantly. However, you will recognized the play style. I have owned torchlight for about 6 months, and it is addicting like DIablo II, but it does have the repitition problems like Diablo as well. (Its fun and you will play a lot, then get bored, then after a while, you will want to play again and again.) This game will run on your screen size no matter the resolution (unlike Diablo II which was limited to 800x600) I own the version bought straight from torchlight's website. I was not able to get it to install properly using wine. However, the game runs flawlessly in a virtual machine under linux.
