This game is make me feel gloomy
After trying to play this game for a while, this game brings me to the war atmosphere that very sad and depressing and then my imagination start to fly to the war zone and change my mind about what war as it was.

Dont ignore the hype!
Latest shown review was from 2014 and saying "ignore the hype". Well, I played the game when it was out, I replayed it due to newly released DLC. That's a good game in its genre. No, decisions you make are not, like suggested in previous review, to be made from where the sounds come from. This game has been derived into a board game, that is a clue.

Unique, Worth to play, and Limits.
Actually I think it desereves 3.5 stars, but it's okay to give 4 stars than 3 stars. First of all, this is a totally new approach on war games. Were there games that deal with civilians in war? With that new concept, the narrative can make people be shocked. The atmosphere is also good; broken houses, people in shelter, looters, snipers, radio(the only way to know what's going on), and much more. However, the game can let you down. Although the atmosphere is really nice, the choices you can make is always limited to somewhat unrealistic ways. There are NO interactions with other survivors. You CAN'T ask for help. There are just aggressive enemies, not aggressive enemies, sellers, and kind people who you can't talk with. You have to steal, fight, or run away. It's like the game says, "War is hell. The only you should care is yourself.(and your small group) Fxxk others regardless what kind of people they are." Also, you have to go dangerous-look like places if you want to survive without doing something bad. It is true that all places in war zone is dangerous, but normally, you wouldn't go to places with flames and gun-firing sounds to scavenge, would you? And because there is no way to talk or ask for help, you must steal from kind people. However, if you do something bad, the survivors will be depressed and murmurs "Why did I..." This is somewhat annoying. Conclusion: It could be a "great game" but it just remains as just a nice game. However, given that it is an indie game, made based on an unique concept, and still have good narrative and shockingly good aspects, I can say it's definitely worth to play. Pros -Really good atmosphere, good narrative -Unique game that deals with civilians in war -Can give you a shocking experience..only if you didn't see walkthroughs and use save cheating Cons -Almost no interactions with other survivors: Don't expect a war simulator, it's a "game" -Lacking replay value -Somewhat unkind-may not know what to do at first.

Was worried but for nothing
I read up on this game before getting it and read quite a lot about bugs, crashes, and a few reviews saying they were disappointed with the game. Nobody was saying what version they were using or any other information and I saw that a new version, 2.0, was released recently so I remained hopeful and got it based on some ingame play on youtube. GoG has version 1.4 as of december 2015, probably the one that came before what is out now. 11-bit studios don't seem to care much about sending GoG their latest version it seems just like a review on here already said. However I encountered no bugs, no crashes, and I very much enjoyed this game. I am not going to go on into a text wall so I will just say that I think people who enjoy survival games will find this fun. Also gave me the feels when I was not expecting it to at all, so big plus there.

An Unlikely Game of the Year
It's difficult to label This War of Mine as "fun." It's the kind of fun if you think climbing Mount Everest is fun, while losing your toes and fingers along the way. There is a steep learning curve, and the game can be unforgiving, especially when little mistakes accumulate day by day. But, once you get the hang of it, then the game starts to be fun; and it is. The soundtrack is beautiful, the graphics are great, controls are meh and the reward for playing is gratifying. I don't recommend this game for the impatient, nor for beginners. This game requires commitment and investment.
