I don't get it...
I don't get the 5/5 review... It's a good game but not a great game in my opinion. So I've played 15h out of this, and it think I'm done with it. Here's why : - Story isn't that great... Granted I'm only in the beggining but so far the main quests are : Go talk to that NPC to get info on X, NPC tells you to go there and kill that monster, go kill that monster, go back to the NPC and get info on X. Most of the secondary quests are the same. Ok, killing monster is the point of the game but a bit more effort on the narrative side would have been appreciated. - Very slow paced. The story is slow and the progression is slow. I mean it takes a very low time to just level-up or aquire ressources to get better equipement.... And the main quests doesn't give you enough xp to just keep up with them, so you have to find and do a lot of repetitive side quests to gain xp. - Combats are not that great. I mean, you have you powers to make it a bit better, but otherwise, it's basicially dodging and attacking with your sword. You have to adapt a bit for each type of monster, but after a while it's a bit boring and repetitive. - Technically flawed. I've failed two quests without meaining to. Some less serious bug here and there. But the last straw for me, was a level 6 side quest that had me fighting against a level 20 monster. I was level 8... It's still a good game though, other reviewers have talk about the good side of it. But for me, I don't see myself playing again for 60+ hours to finish the game, it's good but not that good. God of war for exemple is better imo. So not a bad game, but there are better games out there that I have yet to finish...

Best RPG i have ever played so far...
Best RPG i have ever played so far. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in this genre. I would have thought GOG would give the GOTY automatically to anyone (like myself) who owns the game, both expansions, the expansion pass etc, everything. Would have been nice to get converted to the GOTY edition since i own everything already. Now it seems i have to buy again just to get the GOTY edition which i will NOT do since i own all already. Alas greed is becoming everywhere now.

THE GAME
This is THE GAME. Being a huge fan of Sapkowski's (not just Witcher!) books for about 20 years, and also a huge fan of CDPR's Witcher 1 and 2 games, I've preordered the collector's edition way before was out on PS4, then I've bought the game again on GOG for PC, and I do not regret a single cent spent. This game is worth much more than it cost. CDPR, you have all my respect and many thanks for a great time I spent playing all the Witcher games. Best game ever.

Disapointing
I always knew this game wasn't for me. Yet, I tried Shadow Warrior 2 recently, which I was also sure would not connect with me, and I got hooked the instant the game started. So I thought, why not give Witcher 3 a try then? This one on the other hand has been a series of endless frustrations. The story was interesting, captivating at times. The presentation was "ok". I can't say much about the combat, other than the tutorial was too prompt, and after all the annoyances I've had with the game, I couldn't care to learn. The side quests were fun, especially the "investigations" parts, they did lack a lot of depth in gameplay, but they made up for it with interesting stories, and scriptures. I played around 8+ hours, and as I've mentionned earlier, I can't remember the last time a game annoyed me so much. The Gamma setting? Oh that's a fullscreen exclusive. Thanks for the heads up! A horse going backwards? Who ever heard of such a thing? The list expands by 2-5 things every hour of play. I don't remember the last time I had to google so many little things like Gamma just to play the game. I just can't pull out my crossbow as well for example. I had to google that as well after going through key mappings for 5 minutes, then when I finally found the answer, it didnt work. I just had to chase the Griffon until it landed and kill it with the sword. You know... this kind of stuff should'nt happen, why are there no ranged weapon key? The biggest culprits were the poor "console-style" UI and options. It's another one of those games where you need a PHD if you want to map your own kbd/mouse controls because keys have multiple mappings, and they lock controller mappings? When I press start on a controller I want to save/load or quit. Not view my inventory... Anyway, following the narrative of my experience with the game, this is written mostly out of frustration from the reviews as well. How can they be so overwhelmingly positive? It's like I'm the only one with glasses.
