The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

1st_sorry,_but_my_spacebar_seems_to_be_disabled_in_this_review-window. And_that's_exactly_the_kind_of_small,_but_very_anoying_things,_that_drag_TW2_down. Nonsensical_QickTimeEvents, Cutscenes_that_do_not_play, a_new_fighting_system,_in_my_opinion_inferior_even_to_simple_Oblivin, quests,_which_are_hardly_explained_and_sometimes_impossible_to_figure_out_without_online-help, ... Of_course_there_are_good_things_too,_like_the_story,_which_alone_makes_it_worth_buying_and_playing._But_it's_never_as_fun,_as_it_could_have_been. Man,_typing_like_this_suckz!!!! WHYCAN'TIUSESPACEBAR?????!!!! WTF!!!

I died about 12-15 times in the prologue alone. I have played computer games for 35 years, and feel I'm pretty good. I played on normal setting, and the controls were of such poor quality, I felt like moving in syrup. Also the Quick Time nonsense with the dragon made no sense, and pulled me out of the atmosphere. I felt I was stuck in a Dragon's Lair-clone with unfair near-impossible tasks. I have tried two times to get into this game, but after playing Witcher 3 for about 100 hours, this is too frustrating to the point of being unplayable. Shame.

I am giving up early in the tutorial, even before I have had a chance to try the famously poor combat mechanics. - Game started with a film scene that was in incredibly poor taste. I have a strong stomach when it comes to actual bloody accidents in real life. But I don't get the point of exaggerated gore in film or games, and this was just cringey. - Even with maximum gamma, I can barely make out anything on the screen in the tutorial (which plays at night). With default settings, I was practically blind even right next to a lamp. A lot of people have this problem; apparently it's a monitor incompatibility specific to this game. (Similar problems with The Witcher 3.) - So far, it's mostly a stupid walking simulator, and I am pretty sure it's not just the tutorial. Essentially, you get instructions where to walk (indicated on the minimap instead of making it a challenge to find) and what to pick up. The difficulty is in actually getting the stupid controls to make the Witcher move in the desired direction while also having to control the camera with the mouse. - Then there was this weird 'medallion' mechanism for highlighting relevant herbs. Like quests, it's just a "go here and do the default action" thing, but the effect is temporary, and when you are too slow (due to looking in the wrong direction at first or fighting against the controls) or need several types of herbs, you must wait before you can do it again. Ridiculous. This game seems to be a combination of walking simulator, clicker game and combat simulator (which I have not seen yet), with ridiculous gore for flavor. At least I got it cheap, and it helped me prevent another mistake: buying The Witcher 3. Based on my experience, I now filtered Steam Reviews for the latter by negative, sorted by time (important!), and found that that game has very similar problems that make its obvious accomplishments completely useless to players like me.

I really want to play this game but it is nearly impossible - 10 minutes loading screens, black screens during fights, random crashes... It's not my computer fault - I have 3rd gen ryzen 7 and rtx 2070 - and all other games works well...

I have no idea who are these people who praised CDPR for their "great games" and what are these "games" because this one is clearly isn't that great (and I played all games in the Witcher series), I'd say it is one of the worst experiences I ever had with action-rpg game. One hour of gameplay and it already got on my nerves. Why 1 star? 1. Ridiculously small font and no settings to correct that. I literally can't read anything on small PC screen I have, and my eyes isn't that great. had to use mod to fix that. 2. Controls and UI in general are meant to work with controller and it works better (especially in fights, no input lag on controller). I can manage playing with controller but there are no auto save button, no way to assign it from settings. some other useful commands are also missing. On the other hand when played with controller you pick up dropped loot with simple X. on kb-mouse you would need to press pick up button and then click on screen popup to actually collect it. I can't believe CDPR had no skills to code it in 1 click. such lazy attitude! 3. Stupid quick time events everywhere. I'm more than 1 hour into the game and I still can't get out of one nasty opening scripted crap where I should mash button fast, or else I will be attacked. I already repelled more than 20 waves and still I can't mash fast enough? Look, if I'll want to play insane clicker games it won't have "RPG" and "best game evah" tag. 4. UI, inventory is user-unfriendly and it feels like they made it intentionally that bad. I can't effectively check and compare what my char is wearing because inventory bag and character doll are awful. 5. Game mechanics with potions to drink between battles is a joke. I've been assaulted for more than 20 times and I can't drink a fkng potion? If you have this game in your library - let it rot, if you're looking to purchase it, don't be a victim of hype, you'll get better games for a dollar.
