If you're not frustration-proof then watch Kayran Boos Walkthroughs online because there is no skill required, just repetitive patterns that you have to learn. Tentacle smash, trap, duck, repeat. It's clear now that the guys responsible for making the game have nothing in common with the story author. NO IMAGINATION WHATSOEVER. See, I wanted an RPG not an f... arcade, Graphics are beautiful, story is good too, mechanics really improved since the first, but man, that boss fight. They could at least implement cheat codes if they couldn't come up with some true challenge. This is an example how to break a really good game.

I've played and finished both 1 and 3 and just started playing 2 but I'm not really seeing how these stories fit together. Also, does using the Witcher 1 save to start a game even do anything? I have weapons and armor, but no orens, character or beastiary entries or other such things from the first game. The weapons and armor are barely better than the starting gear!

110% going to buy this here on gog.com so that all the $$$ can go to the developers - they rightly deserve it. A guaranteed to be amazing game? Check. DRM free? Check. I usually like owning a retail version - but here I'm making an exception, for the devs alone. Thank you! I'd feel abysmal even considering a pirated version of this game. CD Projekt RED Studio has gone beyond all expectations by ditching DRM completely and providing us with what's sure to be a quality experience. Think it's too expensive? Cut back on miscellaneous spending and save up to buy this. Still can't afford it? Eat Cup Noodles for a week or two - it's worth the effort. The Witcher was an incredible game, obvious right after it's release. Whatever quirks and annoyances existed thereafter were ALL remedied by the "Enhanced Edition." This just goes to show the dedication of these folks. I expect no less for the Witcher 2. Really, buy it! I know I am.

I played The Witcher on and off, and finally finished it 6 months back. I like the feel of the first, story, characters, but the game part was lacking. The Witcher 2 fixes all of these things, offering even more compelling story. It's more balanced, more thought out. There not as much back and forth as in the first game. Everything just is it should be. The Witcher 2 is harder game than it's predecessor. Lack of real group sword style from the beginning make mobs far more potent if they are in a pack. You are more inclined to use your other skills to survive which is only good. The story is well written, voice actors are superb - there isn't much to complain. The tone is of course very similar to The Witcher, but in this game everything seems more refined - everything. I already said the game is hard - it truly is. Even on normal, me a seasoned gamer had few situations where I had to replay those sections multiple times. Most of the times this was my lack of preparation, but equal part those sections being hard. There is quite clear divide between the sides you can choose, but their intentions aren't so clear. Your actions will affect the story, constantly. It's surprising in how many ways the story can pan out even in the first few hours of playing. Not as long as the first game in the series, The Witcher - but that's not a real downside. A lot of The Witcher's playtime came from running back and forth, there is much less of that in The Witcher 2. It's an adventure like no other :)
