The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

In case you haven't played this one, GO DO SO IMMEDIATELY! It is a superb RPG set in the awesome world of Andrzej Sapkovski's wicked books. It is very immersive, the storytelling is EXTREMELY well done . One small gripe is the combat system, dodging in particular. The animation lacks immediate feedback, which can lead to some frustration. Even though this game is now 5-6 years old, its graphics still look more than decent. If you play the first witcher game today, you will immediately notice the outdated graphics but in this one, i was still stunned today when I first turned it to ultra. Sure, it may not be crysis 4 but damn, i think it looks GREAT. Geralt is a great character, he is faced with many problems and prejudices over the course of the story. The special trait of witchers, signs, is very well implemented. I especially liked that you could use different signs in some places to produce similar results, like one scene in the prologue where you have to bust through a wooden barricade. The game tells you to cast a telekinetic blast but by accident i discovered that the flame spell wors too. Or, you can stun an enemy by casting a 'mind control' type spell, or, alternatively you also could stun him by knocking him down using the telekinetic blast. At first, switching between silver and iron swords doesn't seem important but if you wanna stand a chance against stronger monsters on harder difficulties, you are really going to have to whip out that shiny silver sword you got there. Overall, I think everybody should at least have tried this one, especially fans of the third part of the series or the books(I belong to both groups). If there were more stars i would still give this game a perfect score because if there were more stars five wouldn't be perfect no more. Now GO AND PLAY THIS, NOW!

Ein sehr modernes RPG in einer düsteren Welt mit einem genialen Protagonisten. Ein sehr umfangreiches Spiel mit toller Story und gelungenem Gameplay. Ich kann es nur empfehlen!

Voice acting is still terrible. It looks good. The design of the map is terrible. There are invisible walls everywhere, so you have to spend ages looking for where you're supposed to go. I spent hours looking for the waypoint once. Many of the quests feel like chores. Not a fun time for the most part. No, I don't care about your dead wife if i have to run across the map looking for even more things. I like the third game because you can make your own path to the waypoint. I couldnt motivate myself to finish this game.

Es lohnt sich so sehr diesen Teil vor dem großen Witcher III zu spielen. Die Steuerung ist sicherlich noch nicht so ausgereift wie man sie aus Teil III kennt, aber kein Vergleich mehr zu Teil I. Die Charaktere wachsen einem immer mehr ans Herz und die Welt in der Geralt sich bewegt wird immer größer und die Entscheidungen bekommen noch mehr Tragweite. (Wartet mal ab, bis ihr diese in Teil III importiert habt.) Besonders, wenn man Teil I durch hat und die Entscheidungen aus dem Vorgänger nun hier ihre Auswirkungen zeigen. Einzig die Quicktime Events waren nicht meins. Da gingen dutzende Anläufe drauf um endlich mit einem davon fertig zu werden. Nur vergißt man die auch ganz schnell wieder, weil einen die Geschichte und Atmosphäre des Spiels so sehr gefangen nimmt. Irgendwann starte ich bestimmt noch einen Durchgang mit anderen Entsscheidungen. Davon kann man nämlich sehr viele treffen und alle haben eine unterschiedliche Auswirkung. Die Qual der Wahl sozusagen.
