Horrible game, great story.
Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings would be a great game, maybe even one of my favorites if it worked properly. Unfortunately it rarely does. I'll start off with the good things about the game: Good things about Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings: 1. Witcher 2 has stunning graphics. Many times throughout the game I found myself stopping and just looking around at the world. Unfortunately you have to have a pretty good gaming computer to fully enjoy these graphics but I was still amazed even at Medium specifications. 2. The story is great. Although I will admit I did not complete the game, the portion of Witcher 2's story that I did play through was outstanding! I loved every working minute of it and would have liked to of kept going. They really do a great job making you feel like you are actually in the game, like you are actually Geralt. Also, the ability to choose how you respond to the things people say to you is awesome. I was first introduced to this game mechanic when I played the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and I love any game that does it. 3. The "Quick-Abilities" make combat a lot more fun, specifically the signs. Using the signs and potions for fights I feel is really original and I had a lot of fun switching between hacking through enemies and electrocuting, burning, controlling, and pushing them with signs. This would have made a great game for me but unfortunately Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has some mistakes that are very frustrating and ultimately lead to me not even wanting to finish the game: 1. Tutorials and other messages going away too quickly. This was the first Witcher game I have played so I didn't know anything in regards to how to play it. It also didn't help that the game would show you a message on how to do something or what something was and then not give you enough time to read it. Yeah, you could say that I might just be a really slow reader but being able to read, and even re-read, at my own pace is something that I find very important. This would not have been a problem if they had kept the tutorial section of your inventory like they did in the Tutorial level but, they didn't. As for as I could tell once a message disappeared it was gone. This lead to me spending at least 10 minutes maybe more trying to figure out what all the signs did, and what everything in the Alchemy tab and Drink Potions tab were. 2. Overpowerd enemies and abilities that don't work. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me (if you know that saying). A lot of the enemies were really overpowered, even at Normal difficulty. I can completely understand getting killed in two hits on any difficulty above Normal, but Normal is the normal way the game should play. Everything should be challenging but not hard. Hence the name Normal and Hard in difficulties. But enough of that rant, in the end I could get over that after a couple tries and forget about it. It added an extra challenge to the game. Unfortunately this challenge got harder when the game would for some reason not let you use abilities that in the real world would be perfectly normal to use. I shouldn't have to have a sword equipped to use a sign and I'm pretty damn sure I can do a tumble without a sword either. There is a side-quest called A Scent of Incense were you get taken to some guys underground lab and you have to kill everyone and get out. Did I forget to mention you can only punch while everyone was swords? oh oops. Once again, this would have been fine had my punches hurt the enemies at all. Not a single punch did any damage to any of them. I tried everything from running around trying to find a sword, to trying to burn/electrocute them, to even just trying to run away but every time I died. Like I said at the top of this review this would have been a great game if everything worked the right way. When things did I had a blast and time flew by me. It was so fun and I thought to myself "Maybe this game will actually turn out to be pretty good." And although the story did turn out pretty good, from the portion I played, the actual gameplay was anything but.
Hilft dir das weiter?
