Welcome to the mysterious Fern Island! A lush temperate isle home to three great magical cultures - Boran, Apatut, and Kuqkwa - including one bright-eyed newcomer, Abrill. After crashing onto the island during her travels to a magical academy, the young witch makes the most of the situation, still eager to become a full-fledged Witch. Instead of waiting idly for her arrival, the Academy of Witches also decided to use this as an opportunity for young Abrill to demonstrate her mastery of magic… And unveil the secrets of the mysterious island.
But know this: Becoming the Witch of Fern Island isn't just about passing exams! It's about finding your place in the world, making friends, and most importantly, finding joy within every passing moment.
Graduation means meeting the expectations of the Academy's Guardian Witch, and not by sitting through boring lectures. A witch learns on the job!
Grow herbs and (magical) plants, raise animals of unusual nature, and experiment with enchantments of plants and animals.
Develop Abrill’s own witch brand customizing her witch’s cottage as she sees fit through style and practicality.
Of course, a witch is not merely a farmer! Brew magical potions at the cottage, craft arcane amulets, summon cute and surprisingly helpful familiars, and eventually, perform complex rituals to channel raw magic to command the weather.

Ein wirklich tolles Spiel! Ich habe es mir noch während des Eary Access geholt und seit dem hat das Spiel eine tolle Entwicklung durchgemacht. Wer z.B. "My Time At Portia" geliebt hat, wird auch "The Witch of Fern Island" lieben!
Die auf der GOG-Seite angegebenen Sprachen sind noch von der Early Access, wo es nur Polnisch und Englisch gab. Jetzt sind Französisch und Deutsch hinzugekommen, was das Spiel für mich noch viel zugänglicher und immersiver macht.
I'd rate at least 4/5 stars (only one taken away cause in the TTS-AI era there's just no excuse to not have voice audio).
Other reviews are good, read those for pro/con. Nice atmosphere, interesting island, fun to go exploring and even crafting and all that. Not fun to search for an ingredient that only spawns next season, which nobody tells you (i searched the whole island for a flower before i looked it up online).

So here's my main gripe and why i'd almost go as far as to rate only 1 star:
You can't save manually AND the game crashes. The game saves when you end the day by going to bed. I'm here writing the review because it just crashed when i entered the bed. So, yeah... let that sink in..?
I still give 2 stars cause the game got real nice potential for a crafty witchy feel good relaxation time. But if it crashes after you had a really good day and got a lot of things done, feeling like you really achieved a milestone and then it's all gone cause it sets you back to when you got out of bed that day? This SUCKS. Checkpoint saving = extremely bad game design choice. I have absolutely no interest in doing that day again, so i've just hit Alt+F4. Extremely discouraging.
Yeah, i get it, it's Early Access. I've played lots of these and expect crashes. Those really wouldn't be a problem IF you could SAVE MANUALLY. For example after crafting gadgets to sell on my store thingy i'd have liked to save. Also after the successful fishing trip i'd have saved. Then after collecting all those branches for that villager's request i'd like to have saved. Etcpp.
But no manual saving? It means IF it crashes ALL your progress of that whole day is just gone.
I'll change my rating if we get a manual quick save option with at least 5 slots history. Before that: can't recommend to play this game. Only buy if you wanna peek - but not (yet) if you wanna play it.
