Lacking plot
The Whisperer is a fairly straight forward game, in that once you collect a new item, you can immediately start looking for the puzzle that uses it. It's a very limited game with very little to do, but is stretched out by having easily missable items to pick up, small hotspots, and puzzles that are several empty screens apart from each other, meaning you'll backtrack a lot. Plot is almost non-existant, and makes very little sense. The game isn't scary, but it is gory, aided by nice visual design - the best thing about this game. The only hints at horror are in the few scraps of text you find throughout the level, but nothing seems to come of it. You seem to stumble across a murder, and get the small possibility of a monster present, but once you do the game quickly ends, with the player having no input on how the game ends. The ending involves the player performing the only possible actions available, and doesn't make any sense at all.
