The Temple of Elemental Evil

i got this game because i thought it looked very similar to baldurs gate and icewind dale but sadly it was not but if like me and you like the baldurs gate and icewind dale games and want to add this to your collection then i would wait for it to be on sale that way if you dont like it it wont have cost you much

Just installed, then reinstalled and game wont even try to run. doesnt make me happy for my purchase

Boring town, horrible difficulty and every bug you can imagine. Voice acting is horrible as well. Expect your game to crash because of any reason, including saving or because it is Tuesday. If you are expecting the game to follow the rules it attempts to use, don’t. In the same battle I had an enemy archer who was webbed and blind ready his action to shoot my spellcaster when he casts a spell. It worked. Then I heal my paladin who was dying. He stands up(something you can’t prevent your party member from doing) provoking an attack from the adjacent gnoll. The gnoll hits him for 24 damage on a non-critical hit. A Gnoll who SHOULD have a Stength modifier of +3 and was wielding a one-handed weapon. That means the most he can hope for is 11 damage or 13 on an exotic weapon! On a different combat I spent 2 and a half combat rounds watching all my party members fail to hit a bugbear. That lone bugbear hit every turn. Yes, all of the die-hard fans will argue that I have to “get good” or scout ahead or just prep for battle. They are correct that this game MUST be played as if every fight is deadly, but it has no business being called D&D. Before you blame this all on lack of rule knowledge, I am very well versed in 3.5 rules. I would not recommend this game to anyone if it were free.

I bought this on release day in 2003, the in-game play was bugged so badly and the game's story felt gutted (I later discovered it had been to appease Walmart and other vendors during the Hot Coffee fearmongering), that the installation media was very quickly coasterized. Now, years later, I installed the version available on GOG and nothing has been demonstrably changed from the original buggy version. Granted, if you can grit your teeth and grind your way through the bugs, it is playable at points, but only at points. Albeit no where as broken and bad as Master of Orion 3 (another game salvaged by end-users and not the devs), I cannot recommend this game at all.

The game is unfriendly to the user. There are no notes and icons on the map. NPC have a quest? - Guess yourself. Want to rest before the healing? - Immediately a crowd of monsters appears, which will kill both the wounded and all the healthy. I'm very disappointed that this Troika creation. Very weak and uninteresting game/
