Good remake, works with Vikings Addon
This Version is compatible with the Vikings Addon. The DnG Version itself is polished and has some improvements. +LAN Multiplayer still works. +Better interface +-AI still not very good, even on high difficulty +HP from soldiers with mouseover I lost my DnG Disk long ago, but i tried the german fanpatch for the gog version today. So i wondered, if could combine it with the vikings files. The filestructure for this game is very easy and even the installroutine was nearly just copy paste from the disk. I assume, that the english version has to be installed from gog, beacuse the . If youre german, install now the fanpatch. Next step is to open the setup.exe from the vikings disc (some english files are available even the addon was only released in germany, as it seems...) with 7zip and simply put the stuff in the game folder and overwrite. If you run into trouble, you can always recheck the game in the gog launcher.

Missing Vikings
Hi there, like this game with a lot aof charme and fun. but i miss the Viking addon. i think was only published in europe/germany. Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Settlers_II_10th_Anniversary A Vikings add-on is available for the German, Czech, Polish and Russian versions of the game.[1][2][3] There even is a fan made translation of this add-on. allso there was another settlers 2 remake game: http://www.funatics.de/en/games/older-games/the-settlers-rise-of-cultures/ it is with more story and different kinds of military and ressources they need. also very good game. but it is only in german dub. ps sry for my bad english

Wow. The greatest remake of a game ever?
I could see some merit in the first three Settlers games and I loved the concept of them but I never played them when I was younger. ... I didn't like what had been done with Settlers 4 an onwards because of the way they'd change the core gameplay that I was looking for and they'd made it too much like a standard RTS. I really saw potential in the first three games ... but trying the original three games I sadly found them to be rather oudated and unplayable for 2018/2019 and I wasn't impressed with their tutorials (or lack thereof). But, hey, I thought I'd give this remake of the second game a shot as the second game is often praised as the greatest of the original trilogy. I was worried it would be a waste of money because there are so many bad remakes ... it's hard to even find a decent remake let alone a good one. A few minutes into the game this has already impressed me to be the greatest remake of a game of all time. The tutorial has got to have been the clearest and smoothest tutorial I've ever experienced for a video game ... the graphics are clean ... and they don't seem to have changed the core gameplay of the original Settlers 2 at all ... but this time I'm not completely lost not knowing what to do and looking at outdated graphics. Literally every change seems to simply be to make the game look better, be easier to play and to add optional features. Plus the intro was hilarious. I could see the great potential in the original version of Settlers 2 I just, again, found it very outdated and rather unplayable for modern times where we all have short attention spans and rely on modern tutorials and graphics ... This is EXACTLY what I wanted. There are so many bad remakes ... and this has got to be the greatest remake of a game ever made. I've gone from disappointment at seeing a clear classic but being unable to really play it or appreciate it in modern days to having literally all my criticisms allayed. Best remake of a video game ever created.
